I wear glasses too and even with glasses the Rift (dev kit) is surprisingly comfortable. It also comes with three sets of lenses so if your eye sight isn't too bad, you can probably fit the correct lens cups to get a sharp image.

Oculus have said that the consumer version will be better for people with glasses. I don't know what they have in mind but I wouldn't be surprised if you could get prescription lens caps on order. (One can hope :) )

Current image quality is pis* poor.:eek: They have their work cut out to fix it. Let's see how they get on before we start all the back-slapping...:rolleyes:

Having watched all the videos of you using this device with the Alpha on youtube I have to say that this device just doesn't appeal to me at all so I definitely won't be bothering and its too expensive anyway imo.

First off, I haven't read the whole thread so if it's "asked and answered" feel free to make fun of me and be impolite!

Now, I answered yes in the poll but I'm not quite sure weather to get one of the dev packages asap or wait till the consumer version is finally released. Recommendations?

While it does look good I think I would much prefer an AR/VR system like CastAR ,It looks like it has solved the focus/motion sickness problems some users get with full VR and claims a much more accurate 6deg tracking system,
(which they will sell seperatly for OR users)

Gonna be tricky using the keyboard with that on your head and surely it will be quite tiring after an hour of use, so not very practical for long sessions.
Gotta say no to buying one of these although will be interesting to see how many are on ebay 12 months from now, lol

Not at the price it is now, no way. Especially as I'm just about to undergo a major overhaul of my PC. Maybe in the future when the price drops but for now I'm more than happy with Track IR. :)

I'm sure there will be competitors. The OR is just a good price at the moment for me.

I cop it with exchange rates a lot, now $1 is .52p for me so all UK values are are double. :( We were at .32p at one stage for 4-5 years !!!

Our $ is falling so I am going to jump and get dev kit 1 fast as it will be far cheaper. When it comes out I am worried about getting a local distributor and then geo locking OR so they will not sell direct and force sales through a distributor and here in Aust we get ripped a LOT ! So much so there was a reent gov inquiry asking for a "please explain" to a lot of international firms !

There have been examples where I can fly to the US, get a taxi to the shop, buy a product, sleep at a hotel, taxi back to airport, fly home, pay import tax and STILL be WELL over $700 in savings ! Now THAT is crazy !!!! :)

I know the dev kit is low res but my laptop is 1366x768 so 1280 is fine...plus with my graphics card which is quite slow, low res is good. Dev Kit 1 is wired too which I prefer...... so I am thinking of getting it....

So OR not to play ED though, I only get 20 FPS on ED too slow on the rift. Honestly I want to play Slenderman :):)

I would wait if you are thinking you are buying some kind of customer ready product that you intend to use for some time. However, if you are aware of the quality of the images, serviceable but only just, and would plan to upgrade this to the consumer version when it is ready then go for it!
