enable ipv6, you are fed a lie
and it does not matter what your isp tells you
after a few hours or days, you will see an address gets popped in there
that aside
do you get to login to ed or no?
try port forwarding instead
it is restricting access to ports you should not be using
something is trying to access said port, it is possible there is a firmware issue, as this should not happen with or without upnp enabled
but if you disable upnp, do you still get this message
and what is giving you this message?
you should have access to ed with just the default settings
if I were using that device, I would reset it to factory, see if there is a firmware update, use it if there is
and if you still get the error, try disabling upnp
if you still can't connect to ed, use port forwarding or dmz
if still nothing
disable the isp modem firewall
if still nothing
disable the netgear firewal
dmz can be dangerous without a firewall
1 hardware firewall and 1 software firewall is enough, but you might need them OFF just to test
RE: IPv6
In the network adapter settings, I have IPv6 turned on. In the router, it's currently disabled. When I enable it, I have a lot of options. Choosing Auto Detect automatically sets it to 6to4 Tunnel (which is "fake IPv6" if I understand it correctly). All the other options require configuration details, which I don't have, except for Pass Through. There's also Auto Config, which I guess I can try using, too?
I haven't had a chance to try to get an IPv6 address from my ISP directly without a router as I started using both at the same time (a couple of months ago).
RE: ISP Modem
So I guess I should have added this to the main post, but I live in a condominium building. My fibre Internet is installed in the communications room in the base of the building. They run cat5e cables from there to every condo. So I don't have access to the modem; I just plug one end of a cat5e into an Ethernet port in the wall and the other end either directly into my PC or into my router, and from there a cat5e from my router to my PC.
RE: Elite: Dangerous
Yes, I have access to Elite: Dangerous, though I've only tried playing in Private Group for now. I did want to go into open, but I got discouraged after reading people having issues because of the peer-to-peer nature of Elite: Dangerous. I admit that although I'm somewhat tech-savvy, I don't know much when it comes to networking.
I'm sorry if this post comes across as useless if I shouldn't be worrying if I can connect to the game. Like I said, I haven't tried playing with anyone else yet but I just wanted to make sure everything is set up properly for when I do.
With UPnP enabled or disabled, it still says
PORT_RESTRICTED. It doesn't seem to make a difference. Ditto with DMZ on, or with ports forwarded. I've also tried updating the firmware but it's already set to the latest available.
