Newcomer / Intro WIN32 Error

Hi everyone

After a loooong time trying I finally got the game downloaded on to my oldish PC yesterday, but then when I pressed Play, I got a Win 32 error... something to do with an invalid command???

Is this something to do with the version of windows I am running or should it work on all versions?

If you open a support request, this will be best answered by their support people.

I have this running on a 4 year old system, just about. By my other PC is a version older and won't play it properly... :)

Yeah, its XP... I figured it might be something to do with that. How far does support go back Vista? or is only Windows 7 and 8 supported?

error details

The actual error in detail occurs once I press play and says

FORC-FDEV-D-1003

Failed to start FORC-FDEV-D-1003:

The specified executable is not a valid Win32 Application.

What does the icon for the .exe look like?

That's a strange error and it certainly could be OS related. Try validating your files via the Elite Dangerous launcher.

Ive found the .exe in the folder and it is the Elite Dangerous Logo, click on that and the same error comes up... so either there is an error with the .exe file or maybe an OS issue?

Maybe a complete re-install?

Re-install.

I am thinking that an old computer are less likely to complete its installation if there are whole bunch of things running at the same time.

Usually this means the .exe is corrupt, but if you reinstalled / validated you can rule this case out.
It can also happen if the .exe is compiled with a runtime of Visual C++ 2012 not targeted for windows xp, which is probably the case.
Try contacting support, but i fear the only way around this is to change OS.
