Windows 10 + AMD GPU - low FPS in Supercruise, fix that doesn't require driver rollback?

Just wondering if there's any sort of fix to the low FPS I'm getting in Supercruise. I'm running the latest Crimson driver, as well as Windows 10 (obviously). I'd really rather not roll back my drivers, since I play multiple games. That would be very, very bad.

What card you own?

Ugh... I've had the issue ever since I switched to Windows 10, though. I can't imagine why it hasn't been addressed yet.

According to AMD's driver team it's complicated.

I gave up trying to fix it with drivers for Win 10. I ended up just reinstalling Win 7. It sucks, but at least it's back to normal (with exception to the occasional freeze or crash). I'll go back to Win 10 when a driver fix or something positive happens. :(

With a 280 you could at least roll back and many on the AMD forum in fact did. But as you said. If you play more games that's not an option unless you want to play driver-reinstall before you play a game.

If you haven't done so already head over to AMD and file a report. It's a known bug but the more people complain the more priority it gets.

R9 280. Not the beefiest card, I know, but it runs most games I own pretty comfortably on maximum settings -- including ED... for the most part.

Interesting... I am running the same card on Win 10 with the latest Crimson driver, and I don't have an issue with supercruise. The only issue I have is random crashes (sometimes twice a day, but not every day). My card is paired with an AMD Phenom CPU (8x).

the drastic slowdown is only in supercruise and it actually seems to give you a edge when interdicting / getting interdicted.

I'd just hang in there and jump to the next gen this summer. I was gonna pull the trigger on a 980ti but in 5 months those cards will be worth half what they're going for now. Less so if VR really takes off like people think.

Yes, there is!

Disable ULPS

Hello everyone! I'm very happy to share this information with you fine people. To get rid of the super annoying low FPS in supercruise on AMD card bug, disable ULPS.
Here is how you do that- http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316913-ulps-ultra-low-power-state-disable-amd-crossfirex.html[1]
Basically, open up Regedit then point to your HKEY_Local_Machine folder and hit F3. F3 is the hotkey for find. Type in enableulps and set each instance you find from 1 to 0. This will disable it. Restart your computer and enjoy the game!

ULPS should have nothing to do with the framerate, and also shouldn't have any effect unless you are using crossfire. In fact, the link you provide confirms this. Has this suggested fix worked for anyone else experiencing the issue?

Does someone ever wonder that it might be your terribly migrated Windows 10 installation that can have more unsolvable bugs than the previous edition? A bugged OS backup migrated with a fresh OS installation will result in another bugged OS.

I have an HD5850 running the Crimson beta, I haven't really noticed anything. It might be the WHQL crimson driver, or only the newer cards that suffer the issue?

Windows 10 clean installs whether you choose to keep files or not (it installs the OS from base image, and then moves files and recognised apps over). And you can Reset or Refresh from Settings, which also cleans the OS. Some things are improving with the later OSs, and this is one of them.
