Hardware & Technical Windows 10 Beta NVIDIA GeForce Driver 352.84

Hi All,

I've been running Windows 10 Build 10074 and Elite Dangerous has run well on the platform however a Nvidia driver was released on the 5/15 352.84 WHQL certified that introduces pauses studdering and freezing in the game.

Do not upgrade to this driver. I rolled back to the release on 4/29/15 352.63 and the issues stopped. I suppose it could be my config I am running a older Nvidia GTX 650 Ti that has worked well for quite a while.

It's happening on Win8.1 too. I thought it was lag, but I too updated to that driver. Thanks for the heads up.

just here to offer the other side.
i upgraded to the new drivers and now i can turn the game back up to High/Ultra settings without it freezing when I should be popping out of FSD. Turning the settings down to Mid was the only thing that fixed this problem for me before.
I am also running Win10 build 10074. I have a GTX 770, though, so maybe it depends on what card you have.

Absolutely possible it is card related. Been thinking about picking up a new card to extend the life of my system.

If its a bug report on the bug forum :)

agreed. I actually did that after posting this. Think it is more of a NVidia thing though and not something Frontier can fix.

This driver is marked as a beta. Just wondering if you have upgraded since or if you have found a solution to this? I'm running a GTX 680 FTW, i7 2600K @ 4GHz, 16GB DDR 1600 RAM, ED installed on fast SSD. I'm having same issue so I doubt it's your setup. Minimum requirements for ED are actually quite low, and your system is well within the minimum requirements, as is my own.

I hope they fix this issue soon cause it really takes all of the enjoyment out of the game. This should not be an issue on mid level to higher end machines, as it quite clearly is because there are people talking about it all over the internet. :(

No driver has fixed this issue for me, I have tried about 5 different versions now and it's the same thing. I play as an explorer, and this issue occurs when I am closing in on my next scanning target. Just after the scan starts, I get about 2 secounds of lag where it freezes completely and then jumps ahead so I end up dropping the target and having to start it over again. This really destroys any immersion I was feeling in the game, and snaps me back to reality. I paid a fair bit for the game, and I see people all over the place saying the same thing about it... even people running 980s and so on.

I was able to stop it from happening by turning off SMAA completely. This should not be the case though, because I can run any other current game at Ultra settings with no issues, so it's definately not a case of my needing to upgrade for this game alone, as the graphics are not really even that intensive! What gives!?.

I have a GTX 680 FTW, i7 2600k at 4GHz, 16GB 1600MHz Ram, and ED is installed on a fast SSD. Not sure who's at fault; Nvidia, or Frontier... but someone needs to fix this cause it's affecting a lot of people who paid good money, and even if this is beta they have had plenty of time to address this issue as it's been talked about for months and months.

I also just need to mention that this does not just affect windows 10 machines. I have also ran it on win 7, 8, and 8.1 with the same problems so you can't blame it on Win 10 being beta or somehow being at fault.

Please guys, fix it!
