Windows Mixed Reality Help

I purchased a Lenove windows reality headset. I've gotten Steam games to run on it but not Elite. All I can get it to do is launch the launcher. I do not have Elite in Steam I just created a launch for it in my library. Now I have read on the forums you didn't have to have an Elite account in Steam to launch it there. I've looked high in low for a step by step guide but most are for Hive and Oculus. So any help would be appreciated. I've looked at the youtube of people running it on my setup but no details on how they did it. If I get the key to install it in steam does it download the whole game or use the existing one? Treat me like an idiot with step by step assuming nothing. So far I have done this.
1. On the headset, I go into Steam VR and select Elite VR and all it does is launch the launcher.
2. I go into Elite Profiler and select default profile and launch and all it does is launch the launcher
3 I went in Elite Setup/Graphics and there is nothing about VR headset that i could find.

Launch Windows Mixed Reality For SteamVR (You need this installed on your Steam account, not just 'SteamVR')

Launch Elite Dangerous (whichever version, steam or non steam)

At first ED will not be in VR ; go to Graphics Settings:

Under 3D settings, select VR Headphones or VR Speakers. Put your headset on (at this point you'll probably need to recentre your view, so make a key binding for future use)

That's it. Next time you Launch ED it should automatically open WMR and be in VR.

Thank you, commanders, with your help I got there. WOW!!!! Now I have to learn how to fly all over again. I tell you if all you want to do is fly ED in VR the Windows Mix Reality is a cheaper way to go. I wear glasses so I'll will have to work that out. Right now the Galaxy Map is an issue and no mouse pointer in game. Most everything else works pretty well. Had to fly around in system because I couldn't get anything to work in Galaxy Map (no mouse pointer). +rep for the help o7 o7 o7

In the Control Setting, you can bind your HOTAS (I assume you're using one in VR) to navigate the Galaxy and System maps. The one personal bit of advice for this is that I found I needed to zoom in without using the throttle, because it would still propel the ship (dangerous if you can't see the cockpit). In the galaxy map, each star has a 'stalk' that it sits on, and this is rooted to the grid. Your left/right backwards/forwards bindings will lock on to the disc shaped base of the stalk when your reticle gets close enough to it. Moving up and down moves the grid with your Point Of View, so the stalks vary in length, and zooming in helps narrow it down to the general area. The key binds used for navigating panels can be used to select options on the star, such as selecting it to jump to and I think they mirror the bindings that are all ready set for navigating menu's.

I know my explanation might not make sense when reading it, but I think you'll understand what I mean when you try it out for yourself.

Good luck.
