Ok so to start a bit of history :
Earlier back in 2015 we saw a nerf in the wing beacon working range because of some exploit, i understand the reason behind it but unfortunately
as a secondary effect it is quite a pain now to escort or move into formation while supercrusing or even joining a wing friend in a given zone,
i'm aware that this suggestion will fall to limb etc... but well i wanted to write this suggestion anyway...
I think the way supercruise works could use a bit of rework, the idea would be to consider that a ship that jump into sc or hj
would create a "bubble" around it (the size would change according to its mass lock ability (on a certain scale ^^ ) allowing that all ship within it (and not bigger than its mass lock ability )
stayed in the bubble around the ship that iniated it , players inside that bubble would have to stay within that bubble (visualised by a sort of hollow bubble ) and would be submitted to normal physics
but would follow the super cruising ship as long as they remain within it , if they get out of that bubble they would be dropped from sc with the same effect as an emergency drop.
For the player that initiate the jump the physics and gameplay would be similar to classical supercruise, he would just see the other players around him inside the bubble as normal ship and not the "sparkle" model.
That would allow closer formation flying from place to place , the possibility to track down other ship player that have bigger ship (for hunting mission too) and allow escort mission too without having to be separated at any time during the fly
and address the the wing beacon range.
There use to have a similar thing into an old (well not so old) space sim game (name forgotten sorry) with a dynamic campaign , i use to dive bomb an ennemy capital ship when the ennemy fleet decided to retreat to their home system..
And i got sucked with them to retrieve my self alone surrounded by an ennemy fleet in the middle of an ennemy space.. that was intense
