Wing missions not worth it?

Why are wing missions payout so low? Check this out:

Solo: 2.1M for moving 120 units of reactive armor, 1 jump
Wing: 5M for moving 4383 units of reactive armor, 1 jump

Wat?

They have to balance it for a wing. Imagine 4 cutters doing that mission together and they get 5M each. That’s the problem for solo players trying to use these to make money. You can’t balance these wing missions for both outcomes.

I'm not talking about solo players making money with wing missions, I'm talking about why should I bother my friends to come over to do these when you can make more solo. Those 4 cutters with 700 cargo would need to do 2 round trips each. The boards I'm seeing have a bunch of 1.5M-3M and rarely 5M-7M transport missions, 4 of which would fill the cutter to net at a minimum 5M for 1 jump.

Myself and my friends could each take these mission individually and make more in less time. We still chat on discord, so the social aspect is still there. What is the point of wing missions then?

Hit the nail on the head. It's the same with massacre missions, why bother trying to kill150 ships for such a terrible payout when each player can individually kill 36?

Wing missions are objectively a complete and total failure. Once again where the mission designers could have introduced elements to the missions that actually required co-operation, they instead arbitrarily raised the objective count and called it a day. I had a feeling the missions would be poorly implemented, I didn't want it to be true but missions in this game have been utterly awful since release. There was no reason to expect them to suddenly get better.
 
Welp, 3.0.3 killed wing missions definitely for me. There were some nice Palladium or Imperial Slave missions with decent payouts that are no longer viable, since now 4 people in a wing would make more money taking the individual haul missions in a shorter timeframe (1 jump).
