Wing (Party) Invisible

We've tried to google and find any workarounds but have failed to. As it stands right now we can add each other, use beacons to find each other, but the ships will not load. We've tried relogging, our networks are configured properly for the game. Why is this an issue so many years after release?

I'm feeling like I'm spending more time trying to get the game to work properly than I am enjoying it.

Edit: And now that we finally managed to get to see each other, I couldn't dock at the station. So I had to relog, undoing fixing the issue, and now it's telling me I can dock but the assigned landing pad is OCCUPIED. I swear, I spend more time dealing with bugs than I do playing the actual game. Maybe this is why most of my friends who had this game stopped playing it.

Edit 2: So I exit, again, to fix the issue of the assigned landing pad being occupied and now the main menu options won't load, I'm just staring at my craft in a bay. Good game.

as long as upnp is enabled for your pc and router(for both parties) or ports forwarded then I am outta ideas other than possibly lowering your mtu size
of course your ping to your friend must be acceptable in the first place as you are using a peer to peer isp connection to your wingmate

If you select "Cancel Docking" doesn't that make a subsequent request proffer a different pad?

So I am approaching 6 years of playing this game (almost daily) and apart from the few general bugs that cropped up from time to time that everyone suffered from until a hot fix appeared (usually very quickly) I don't have anything like the issues that I keep reading about (touch wood). Sorry people are having difficulty but I wonder just what is the cause?

I cancelled and retried about 20ish times before giving up, it kept giving me Pad 02 where an NPC sat. Was there for at least 10 minutes. I feel like this game is begging me to hate it at this point, which sucks because I want a game like this. I'm currently in a system right outside the starting zone too, which if this is related to that, I guarantee the issues have driven many potential long term players away not long after starting. Also, in the 40ish hours I've played, I've had this bug happen at least a dozen times...

I mean the tutorial is pretty much useless as it leaves out so many important details that you still spend half of your first 30 hours in the game alt-tabbing out to look at Wikis and watch amateur level videos on YouTube.

As for the original issue, as it obviously isn't explained anywhere in the game, I found that you have to use beacons and hyperdrive to the Wing beacon of your friend to see them (it should just pop up and ask you if you want to join their instance, or automatically put you in their instance if you're in a PG).

Like all I want to do is mine and dogfight with friends, without weird issues.

As an IT person myself, UPNP and NAT are configured properly, ports are forwarded, and I'm on Xfinity gig ethernet and he is maybe 6 hours away, we tend to have a ping in the 20s or 30s to each other in Peer-to-Peer.

if a npc does get stuck on your pad
quickly switch to solo or open or vice versa
it dosnt happen as often as you think well fa me it dont
when collecting blueprints from machines always log off and back on once blueprint is collected (else next blueprint may not spawn)
if srv stuck on surface and cant thrust an wriggle free boot the elite dangerous version of the game
are two handy workarounds

Is there any quick way to rejoin a friends instance after doing that? So that when bugs like this happen we don't have to then do hyperdrive jumps back to each other.

Just go into supercruise, lock onto their wing beacon and disengage when able. No need to high-wake out of the system and back.

Thank you for that response.

Just wish there was a way to immediately join into a friend's instance when launching the game. lol I've played a few MMOs where you could interact with the user listing and choose to "join session", would be a welcome addition.
