I'm very much looking forward to wings and the coop game-play arriving soon, how do you feel this will change the game? What are your plans for the Zerg!?
Zerg: just incase someone isn't aware a Zerg is an internet gaming term used to suggest superiority at war using overwhelming numbers.
I think Wings and the Coop features have potential to change the game dramatically, for the better. No doubt, some people will complain when they are ganked by a 'wing' of pirates. Hopefully it won't take long for traders to adapt and begin flying in fleets with defensive ships. That said, a fleet of trade ships could attract more attention than a lone ship slipping past a blockade.
Just the nature of working together and sharing wealth introduces the prospect of shared ownership of ships. To that end, I hope at the very least, a -ship including all modules- can be transferred between players. Imagine a Wing organising itself prior to a maneuver, "tonight pilot A will be flying defense in the Anaconda, with B and C in the fleet Vipers, while the rest are in trade ships" -means all pilots have potential to fly different ships and keep the activity fun and fresh. The ability to swap ships between players is also good for a very important reason; to help reduce the grind mindset.
-By allowing cooperative ownership of ships, the individuals pressure to own is reduced, and so pilots can focus back on enjoying the here-and-now gameplay, and not focussed on enjoying it in the future.
And then we have Wing organisation...I wonder if the best fleets will be made up of 6 Vipers, or perhaps an Anaconda, couple of Pythons and 3 Vipers?
Finally, with wings flying about smashing stuff up, how will the NPC denizens cope!? Theres already little challenge to be found in the game, a coodinated team in good ships is going to need some new random/emergent content to offer any challenge.
Care to share your thoughts and ideas about wings and coop game-play?
