TL;DR
Does added mass of ships counts during mass-lock or it is counted separately and only biggest ship counts?

So one of my issues so far been inability to take lot's of cargo in my Viper. It's often happens that I shake some type 7, it drops a lot of cargo but I can't collect even 1/3 of it. It's just too many! Having a wingman that can actually collect cargo would be nice, even better - sharing the spoils. But at least something like that is on the list of upcoming features.
But what troubles me most - it's inability to ambush other players properly. It's nearly impossible to sneak up on them or chase them down. Most of the time all you can do is shoot once or twice and then they are free to go away. Sure interdicting someone 7 times in a row might be fun for some but not me. So say I managed to interdict some fat PC-driven type 6 loaded with gold and my wingman buddy in a larger ship can mass-lock him with me for good - that would be swell. But does it work that way? Does our added mass count as a summ or it is counted separately and only biggest ship counts?
