Wings Exploration

Hello!

My newbie buddies and I decided to earn some easy credits doing some exploration while winged up. I have a nicely outfitted vulture with Advanced discovery and Detailed surface scanner. They have Eagles with default scanners.
So off we go to a system that none of us has it showing explored, we arrive and I set off the scanner and find 19 bodies. So far so good.

I turn around to scan the sun and nothing happens, checked the closest planet and nothing. I've made several million in exploring so I though I knew what I was doing. Apparently I missing something with regard to wings.

Please HELP!!!!

Have you selected sun/star or planet? You need to have it selected to scan it. Select from nav panel/system map or with target ahead button (i believe its default key is T) And be close to them. You can scan most stars far away >1000 ls but some planets/moons can only be scanned <100 ls away.

Thanks Thetele, yes they were targeted, I've done this a million times + or - a few hundred thousand and never seen this. I was about 5Ls from a really big planet and nothing, the sun was pretty well filling the screen and nothing. UG!
I thought it has to be something do with being in a wing. I dunno.

Then it is probably a bug. Go to fill bug report about it.

You could check if you can scan something when you are not in wing.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping for, sorta...
That same day I got stuck disengaging from Supercruise at a RES, had to end task with taskmanager after about 20min of my patience. Alt B showed little to no data movement so maybe it's related (no/bad server connection). I played alone the next day and everything is normal. We'll play again as a wing on the weekend and try it.
Really appreciate your experience. Thanks again.
I've been fruitlessly searching for an "everything you wanted to know about wings" thread. Have you seen one?
