Ship Builds & Load Outs Wire frame cobra

having played the original game on a bbc b back in '84 I was hoping for a sire frame paint job option. I've already seen one and it's <fantastic>!!

Maybe they put it back on sale on the 31 anniversary. Each year at the 20th September for one weekend or something.
I have one myself and i wouldn't mind it if they do it this way, since it was still in the Beta as they released the skin
and many peoples had no chance to get it. Not everybody like to beta test software and rather wait for the final thing. Nothing wrong with that.

The wireframe skin was the only skin I've bought and I love it. :)

I only bought it though because they said it was a one off and never again. Otherwise there's no way I'd pay £10 for 1 skin.

Exactly the reason I bought it at the time. It was specifically marketed as "30th Anniversary Limited Edition" and available only for a very short time.

I reiterate : This particular paint job was not marketed like the others.

FDEV should create more wireframe paint jobs for the other ships at some point in the future. But they should not sell the Cobra Wireframe again, despite how many howls of protest and entitlement they'll inevitably get.

I wonder how many they sold?
Pity they don't have a EDBay, maybe It'd bring BigCredits when faced with a big Insurance bill in a couple of years time...

I love my wireframe Cobra.

It's all A-class, and after not flying my Cobra for a while I've found a new use for it. It's perfect for traveling a large distance in a short amount of time, for example to check if there's a functioning Community Goal. I can travel, say, 200 LY, check what's going on, then travel back and get my Vulture. Obviously doing such a journey in the Vulture (if the trip were to prove futile) would be a PITA, and in my Python would be quite costly (wear and tear).

I would love to go one better and have Nostalgia mode where its all wireframe or flat shaded low detail polys :) ooo happy days if they whack that one in :)

Put the SSAA Option to the max. This will flatten out all the details on your ship because the game doesn't use all the video card memory. Also it runs as slow as the original Elite on Amiga then. ;p

What im annoyed about is i didn't notice it being up for sale..... but i did get the redone original Elite when that first appeared.....

I'm annoyed that I didn't see the ED Kickstarter campaign until it had closed naff-all I can do about that too ;)

Because buying purely aesthetic limited edition virtual things are worth more when other people don't have the opportunity to get them... seriously? How's that investment and resale value looking for you in your virtual portfolio?

It reminds me a bit of my wife having a tendency to buy things because they're on sale, not because we actually need them.

They shouldn't sell it again because they apparently said they wouldn't, not because you or anyone else bought one.

Speaking of "howls of protest and entitlement," the only ones I've seen so far are from people who bought the paint job. Go figure.

Anyway... yeah, it is cool looking.

Nice straw man you set up to knock down again :)

I missed the opportunity to join the kickstarter and get the KS benefits - you don't see me moaning about missing that though. Fair's fair.
