wireless headset from Amimon

OP. I've not heard of that one. Have you heard about TPCast? It's going to be £350 (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/tpcast-wireless-adapter-for-oculus-rift-vr-001-tc.html). That's way too much for my liking. I'd only be a little interested if it was at least half that price.

Having watched a 30 min preview today, my concerns are:
  • latency
  • tracking being lost
  • weight / heat of battery / overall comfort
  • ability to wear separate headphones
  • restricted FOV
  • blue borders / other side-effects of wireless software

i think I'll go wireless, but probably on the next gen VR

wireless display - zero latency

The problem is wireless display <> zero latency. Wireless display == some latency, period. Now hopefully it's so low you can really perceive it so we'll see. I agree that this clearly isn't needed or wanted with Elite, why do I want more weight on my head when I'm seated. But there are many standing/moving VR games out there that this will clearly be great for.

Like all Elite players I just want 4K and 200 degree FOV. And yes, I know of the PiMax 8K and no, I'm not even remotely excited about it. I had the 4k for about a day as it sucked compared to the Rift. Like a DK1 with a crappy 4K panel, specs aren't at all the whole story.

I am not so confortable putting a wireless transmitter over my head.

I guess you don't use cell phones or wireless headphones then, huh? No microwaves or TVs in the house either, right? Stock in a tin-foil hat company too, yes??

yes.
no cell (I have an old Cell that I turn on and use only when strictly necessary), no wireless headphones neither wireless router.
the others you mentioned makes no sense.
microwaves don't leak radiation outside the cavity and TV, I don't know, but mine doesn't have any wirless connection, and I live happy with this.
and, by the way, one thing is to have a transmitter near your brain for some minutes like with cells, another is to put it on your head for one hour or more.

Seems it's time for you to put Elite down, take off your tin-foil hat and educate yourself. It has been proven time and time again that wireless signals have no effect on cellular function and do NOT cause cancer, the plague, boogeymen, etc.

Scroll down and read

If you're worried about wireless signals then you need to go live in a Faraday cage deep underground as there are far more wireless signals going through you at any given moment than you realize. Cosmic rays, neutrinos, microwave, radio, etc. are all passing through you right now. I assume you're reading this on a monitor rather than having someone yell it at your in your Faraday cage - if so you're getitng small amounts of radiation from it right now. Never, have cell phones or wireless signals EVER been shown to cause cancer.

American Cancer Society on Cell Phones

Of course something tells me logic won't prevail here, hopefully others will educate themselves. I'm also not sure why you'd even post here - clearly you don't play in VR as if you think that's safe but wireless isn't well then we've sunk to a whole new level haven't we?

clearly you are an a******.

Thanks for showing us that logic is lost on you given your insightful reply.

Now that we're done with that idiocy has anyone actually used the TPCast yet? They're out now and are getting rather good reviews save for the $300 pricetag.
