Wish ED multiplayer crew worked similar to the new game Void Crew

There are always comparisons between other "good" games and ED when such game does something the player likes.
ED is what it is, it is incredibly unlikely that any further content / expansion will appear in the future, so making do, or not, with what the game does provide, is all there is to do.
 
Has anyone else played this? It was what I was hoping for when they announced that you could have a crew on board your anaconda.
I was just hoping to actually see the crew in some of the empty seats, but this wasn't possible for 'reasons'.
Crew is just another placeholder in a game full of them.

You can, if it's another player. Void Crew is a one to four player co-op game, so not even in the same category as ED.
 
At this point, having crew members visible next to you would also then lead to the next question; can they disembark with you? Which I'd hope would one day be yes. But until that day, would everyone be fine with seeing crew members in your ship without that ability? And also, how would the certainty of the ship being destroyed while parked with crew members inside be dealt with?

The 2nd question is easily answered: The same as you being in the ship is dealt with. The rescue rangers rescued them and they are back at the station, you can pick them up when you get another ship. For the 1st, I don't want them to disembark. I'd have enough issue keeping my own hide hole free, but protecting them as well would be too cumbersome.

... But then technically physical multi crew seems to work exactly like this Void Crew thingie - you can have a crew of up to four players in your ship if it has the seats. Or does Void Crew provide an NPC crew when you play alone? My superficial google fu indicates it does not.

Void Crew is of course dealing with an entirely different set of problems as far as multicrew is concerned. It's one to four player co-op, so you can start a game any time by yourself and your friends can join you, but what happens in ED if you are playing in multi-crew with 3 other payers and the owner of the ship disconnects? Or you all log out and agree to play another time, but the owner of the ship you are playing in can't get a connection, maybe his internet is down? No game for you sorry.

To an extent yes, but in Void Crew I dare say any one of the 4 payers could start the game and the others just join them wherever and whenever they last finished playing because it's 4 player co-op and everything would be saved for each player, but if I played multi-crew in ED, and wanted to start the game to play but don't own the ship, I suddenly end up, where? Thousands of light years away? While you are all on and playing together yes it probably works the same, but because ED is an MMO and Void Crew isn't things start getting difficult very quickly. You could need a dedicated account and alt that only play when the owner of the ship you are all part of is available to play, so not as convenient I suspect, very much not as convenient.
