Wish me luck

There's a nice spanky new X55 Rhino in the boot of my car at the moment. Going to plug it in when I get home and dig out a profile from some kind soul who's posted one. Then find a quiet system somewhere to practice.

(£130 which seemed a bargain to me)

Got the config page ready to leave on my second screen for reference. Part of me is wondering if I should maybe wait until I get back to civilised space before trying out a whole new flight system. Or at the very least stop neutron / black hole farming.

I switched out exploring from stick keyboard to full HOTAS(X52). Just make sure, once you drop out of SC, before docking and selling, to practice with your vertical and horizontal thrusters. It was tricky for me... Good luck and enjoy the new interface.

I did the switch from an x52 to an X55 while out in the void. (If I'd waited, I wouldn't be able to switch till Xmas) it was fairly easy to make the transition. That said, there are a number of features not used when exploring (sub system targeting, wings stuff... The list goes on.) so you'll have less to get used to.

The other option is to dive into the training and use those the help build muscle memory.

Bottom line. Do it now, do not wait.

Started trying various configurations last night. The one linked to above (top of the page) is a good start but not quite right for me. Very, very useful though... I think I've got the layout I like I'm just trying to work out the best options for the panels.

Very nice piece of kit though but by 'eck it's big.

I have both the x52 pro and x55. One word of warning, and this happened to some and not most : If you dim the lights on the x55 it can cause button ghosting(button press without your input) , remember , not all are saying this.
I would unbind silent running and other dangerous keys first(like dump all cargo)

Thanks for that :)

I've not downloaded the software to manage the devices just the drivers. I'd already decided the "eject all cargo" button is NOT being mapped. Especially on the same switch as "engage cargo scoop" as per that linked diagram.

I was going for a basic idea of flight controls on the joystick,so thrusters on the right hand 'hat' and the ship controls on the throttle, power distribution on one of the thumb hats and the bottom three switches for landing gear, lights, cargo scoop (in that order).

As said, it's just the info panels that have me foxed at the moment.
