Witch's Space

Needs a permit and yet there's no stations there, anyone know anything about this? On my way to the nearest station in the Macalites system which is close by to see if I can find out more. Nearest station is 70,000ls away though, hope it's worth it.

Can't speak specifically for this one, but there are many places that FD are reserving, and require permits to reach. Those permits are not (yet) available. it could be one of those.

In the original Elite, I thought Witch Space was where you could end up sometimes if your Hyperspace drive malfunctioned and you mis-jumped? It was a weird place with no stars, and occasionally, Thargoids. Am I imagining this?

You occasionally saw Thargoids in normal space, but if you misjumped you were guaranteed to see them - a tricky situation.

Thing is, was Witch Space the actual hyperspace/wormhole or was it where you ended-up after a misjump? Opinions differ!

Yes Witch Space was the wormhole thing and Thargoids were able to ambush you inside it.

I always just thought it was somewhere weird you ended up after a misjump, never really found out. Come to think of it, I've yet to see misjumps feature in E D yet, wonder what the plans are?

I always assumed Witch Space was space between star systems where there was nothing there. Except Thargoids of course.
