With MC, Perhaps Ending the Cockpit Lockdown? AKA: Get more players out of the bubble.

What I mean by that is many people want to explore all of Elite's jobs... bounty hunting, combat, exploration and even mining, but there is a HUGE hurdle to exploration... very few want to leave the bubble for months as a time. The problem was FD's insistence that players are tethered to their ships. I'm an original Beta backer, and I remember the idea then was you wouldn't have more than one ship, hence no need for multiple log ons. Well, that went out the window but the idea to stay in ONE cockpit remained. Now with multicrew, you can jump into your friend's ship instantly (and ABSOLUTELY positive idea because this is a game after all). Sandro, what's the possibility of carrying on that idea and allowing players to spawn into any available owned ship from the main menu? That way I could explore the galaxy, but then return to the bubble to engage with a CG, etc. The ship remains where it is, so players can't complain about insta-dropping a FDL into a warzone.

If the Dev's would have considered this as a real concept, we wouldn't have gotten ship transfer. In my opinion it is a good thing that NOT everyone can join a CG within the first minute just because they parked a ship there. It would ruin powerplay and BGS.
I'm very glad that our BGS opponents CAN'T be everywhere in a minute! I hope it remains this way, otherwise we would get outnumbered all the time and i would loose intrest in the game

Yes it already came up recently. And yes, I would still like to be able to log-in to any ship I own.
This wouldn't be much different from having multiple accounts.

I really, really detest combat in ED, I really do, but I love exploring, however many of the engineer options that are useful to explorers are locked behind combat missions, can you please make it so all combat missions are insta-win for me so I don't have to bother actually doing them, they are such a pain and I want all the good stuff without actually doing all the work.

no thanks you can go out there with those aliens if you want to, I'll be here in civilized space lol. its all fun fooling around in their bases but wait til they start eating you guys...I saw Prometheus thats gonna be you. [big grin]

I'd rather have multiple accounts with different commanders than have insta-travel/teleportation. Three accounts perhaps, like in Eve, with individual bank accounts, inventories etc. That way we could have one commander for exploring, one for mining, one for bounty hunting (or whatever).

Insta-Travel between ships would 'shrink' the universe, and remove any sense of risk in exploration if a commander could just 'teleport' between ships. Kind of like fast travel in SKyrim. Part of the gameplay in Elite is the opportunity cost in doing something and the sense of commitment to doing that thing, whether it's investing time in exploring the far reaches of the galaxy or spending over a million credits on an item of ship kit.

The decisions we make as to how we spend our time in the game therefore carry a lot more weight.

Skyrim, for example, quickly became tedious and un-immersive (there must be a better word than that!) during the late game when you'd become head of every single guild/faction and maxed out all your skills and could teleport anywhere on the map. I'd hate to see Elite go that way, as it robs it of any sense of creating a 'story'.

With all due respect commander
