I posted this on reddit but it's a big issue to me so posting it here too:
Sure u can make something acceptable with the display sequencer right now but nothing amazing imo. In rct3 there was a whole community just for firework because it was so flexible. And i can live with the lack of mods, particle editor, light and water, the over complex motion ride, uncooperative path or the cluttered UI. What I cannot justify is the current system for the display sequencer.
Here are the major issues with this system: U can now change the color of an object butits an additional step, meaning u need 1 to change the firework colors and another to launch it. There's still a limit of 100 "events" per display sequencer. It isn't possible to change the timing of said object in it ( want a light open for 10 sec instead of 5). Isn't possible to change rotation. It ask you to put the exact time in milliseconds but it doesn't display those second when hitting play, therefor syncing effects with a flat ride is almost impossible. The lack of visual timeline UI makes it's ridiculously hard to time stuff. It's counter-intuitive and I never have seen such a bad system in the timeline realm. This is a system I would expect from 1998 not 2018. Especially with the better system made in rct3 with many of the same devs.
For coaster, it made at least more sense because the coaster is your timeline and the train ur trigger. This isn't the case for the display sequencer or flat ride.
It is the most broken feature in the game atm imo. /rant over
