With Restraunts coming I had a thought...

You know how we connect the table boxes to the restaurant entrance? What if... We had a "Kitchen" that functioned like the resteraunt kind of only instead of being linked to boxes we have to cover up... We could instead link it up to picnic tables... Hungry guests will then sit down at these linked tables and a new employee type will come out of the kitchen to take their order and then return with food which they then eat...

(Or alternatively we could link picnic tables to the restaurant proper and have wait staff that runs the food out to the linked tables... (The overflow of the restaurant will seat them selves at whatever tables after placing their order and a waiter will bring their food out to them.. ) What do you guys think? Would this allow for patio seating for our restaurants you think?)

Based on what was shown in the stream restaurants are nothing to get excited about. I expected booths or tables for guests, not black boxes.

So the restaurant feature does nothing from an aesthetic standpoint.

The only other use is for scenario play. It appears restaurants will work like hotels - it looks like Frontier implemented restaurants by copying hotel code and graphic assets and tweaking them. So I expect possible restaurant scenario objectives to mimic hotel objectives:
Build [x] number of [y] star restaurants (optional of [z] guest capacity)
Have [x] number of guests eat in your restaurants (optional for [y] consecutive months]

Frankly, this is well into, "Why bother?" territory.

While implementing wait staff is asking a lot, running a buffet line - guests with trays choosing items from various shops - might have been "do-able".

Yes agreed. It's more of a virtual restaurant management thing than any new visual interest. I was surprised to see it as hotel style boxes rather than actual tables that guests sit at - which would have been very cute to look at and play with.

I do hope the devs consider upgrading restaurants to actually use tables and chairs and seated guests. Such a feature would be applauded by all, no doubt.

I very much agree with the comments in this thread. Tables and chairs would allow the design of all types of restaurants; inside buildings or beach cafes etc.

I can agree with most comments here, but I'm already glad we can build something now that sells everything (if needed).

I agree with you all. I would have liked a restaurant system where you link up picnic benches with the already in-game shops, instead of more black boxes[sour], like with hotels.

I can see why they went with the rabbithole style because running a full restaurant inside a theme park would make the game unplayable.

but with that aside, I would love to see different styles of the shop stalls, that has its shell removed, so you can make your own cafeteria style place. Add kerbs for guests to walk around and you are done. I would be happy with this solution. Of course the vendor would just walk around in his/her tight animated area and you might need to pop 2-3 different "stalls" to serve varied food, but for me it is fine. At least for the latter you could technically add more food options in the list, it is more of adding options to the script.

Then if investing more time, they could make more stalls that are more "combined" like burgers and soda display. Donuts and coffee display. Etc. Use old artwork models but arrange around a little bit to make "a little of each". Of course, requiring more work.

But of course, we do not know what they have in store, they might offer exactly that, in one or other way. They might surprise and offer us shell-less shops. We just gotta wait and see. :)

I wish!! I would love to not have a blank empty space that people walk into to but i’m sure they did what they could.

there will be time for improvements one thing about these guys which will make me keep buying there stuff is that they do make things better, I agree with all of you. but it could be boxed now but down the road it can be changed. or they can delay it and change it in the process. which would be epic in the end.
