wolves and bears in one habitat

Hello everyone :D

It would be nice if we could put the wolves and bears in one habitat. (franchise mode)
Various animal parks in Europe (Pairi Daiza and one in Germany) are already doing this.

It apparently works really well, because they keep each other "entertained". The wolves must try to sneak in to grab some of the bears' food, and the the bears obviously try to keep them from it.
Somewhat surprisingly, there's no casualties.

Hope you do something with this suggestion xx ;)

That is horrific, what kind of zoo would keep wolf and bears together and think it is a good idea.

The best zoo in Europe does it, they have developed a way in which the animals leave each other alone. Most experts say that these types of problems are exceptional.

There are a few in the entire world.
It was very debatable in the Netherlands, experts were divided on this one.

In America there was a man who kept a lion/tiger and bear in the same private enclosure..
But they were raised together since they were a cub...
Or people who own a tiger or cheetah as a pet.

Personally I don't think the exception should determine the rule. Majority of zoos keep them seperated

You can read these articles:

There are plenty of zoos in the world that have wolves and bears together in a habitat and have never had problems.
Ouwehands Zoo in the Netherlands has had this combination for more than 20 years without any problems.
They also live together in the wild, I understand that you are shocked by that video.

Seems like this is only particularly common in Dutch zoos, and is therefore not representative of an over-all positive trend. In that case, it should be left out of the game until there is some actual consensus on whether or not it is a good idea. I imagine it works fine until either animal breeds, but the instinct to protect one's offspring often heavily outweighs all other factors (I once saw an ostrich take a heavy kick from a giraffe - the ostrich was minding its own business, but the baby giraffe was curious and got too close, so the mother had a moment of panic, and these are animals commonly kept in mixed habitats).

do you have a source for the claims made by these experts?

That is horrific, what kind of zoo would keep wolf and bears together and think it is a good idea.

This website explains all the GOOD things they do for the bears. They give them back a life where they can enjoy everyday and not be beaten by sticks everyday just to perform some trick they are not supposed to learn.

These animals don't attack without reason, also this news article headline is only there for "sensation" purposes.

animal were kept together to create a 'challenging' atmosphere

It has nothing to do with creating a "challenging" atmosphere, it's all about bringen abused bears back into a natural surrounding, where wolves help recreate that feeling.

These animals traditionally avoid each other, but that does not eliminate any potential danger that involves those two animals.
If you visit the Bear Forest, you'll quickly realise the wolves have their spot on one side of the habitat, Where the bears have their own wherever they want.

Normally they tolerate each other really well, and rarely anything happens between them, and can get withing several feet of each other, without them being aggressive to each other.

That being said, the article describes the zoo of Dierenrijk, where the website "Bears in Mind" is a long-running project of Ouwehands Dierenpark, that has never had problems with their bears and wolves.

I don't know about the previous example.
What i do know is that the 2 zoos in the Netherlands feeded the bears and wolves seperately, so they wouldn't compete over their food.
