Newcomer / Intro Won't let me accept trade missions? Only combat ones.

So I increased my Empire reputation to 100% and am finally getting Imperial Navy mission offers that will rank me to Outsider.
Thing is, if the mission is an assassination request, the "Accept" button is live. But if it's a trade-related mission (convey X goods to Y place) the "Accept" button un grayed out and unclickable.
I'm scouring the mission offer and I'm not seeing anything to prevent me from accepting it. I'm of the recommended rank, for example and I have cargo space. (But even if it's a data delivery it still won't let me accept.) I've gone to three separate stations and have tried maybe 10 different missions. Trade, no. Fight something, yes.
Any ideas or feedback for what's going on?
TIA!

Not enough cargo space? Not at the right Rep?
This. Rank missions need you to have the cargo capacity to accept the mission, the cargo is then automatically loaded to your ship.
Rank missions still use the 'old' cargo system.

Confusing? Of course it is, it's FDev!

My advice: keep going in/out of the mission board until it gives you a courier mission.

Have enough cargo space.
Have the local faction rep to accept the mission. If the mission rep is higher than your current rep with the faction no joy.
Have the correct size ship to land at the destination port. A large ship cannot land at an outpost having only a small and medium pad.

It isn't loaded automatically, you have to do it. Also, afaik, you don't need enough cargo space to do it all in one go. I think you can take some it a bit at a time and do it in stages. That might only be for wing missions, though. I'm sure someone will confirm.

Pretty sure, yeah. Could be wrong, though - it has been know.

Yes in this case you are in error. If you accept a promotion delivery mission the cargo is automatically inserted into your hold*. So if you have not got enough space available, the mission is not available to you. The work-around though is that you can swap ships and come back to the mission board, reloading the board until the delivery mission pops up again.

* I have no idea why promotion missions still use this outdated mechanism, I suspect it is just an oversight that they cannae be bottomed to fix.

I'd say it's most definitely faction rep. I was recently trying to finish King in an area that I'm not usually in and I had to grease some palms to get my faction rep up to where I could accept the rank up mission.

All of this. ☝️☝️

I have been caught out on this a few times when I realise that I don't have enough cargo space.
