PvP Woohoo, met my first ganker at a CG :)

Title says it all. Got interdicted at about 200 ls from the station and submitted, was curious to see what sort of ship they were in. I was going to attack but they were in a FAS and I didn’t think my Dolphin, loaded with cargo would be a good match. Therefore I decided to leave the area. I was hoping to low wake in order to get to the station but got mass locked. Their boost was slightly faster than mine so I had to high wake instead. While getting whacked with plasma periodically.

Well, I’m glad to say the Dolphin managed to leave the scene easily despite my initial delay with 12% hull. I’m really pleased with the shield performance. My only regret was not being in something with more guns. Well, it is a FAS... their shields are weak and I am carrying modded railguns with feedback cascade and super penetrator - maybe next time it’ll be an interesting fight. Don’t mind losing the ship, but I hate losing the cargo.

Anyway, it’s about time I met one of these mythical no-comms player killers. Achievement unlocked.

If you care about the cargo then next time just high wake straight away ;)

If you feel like have nothing to lose and want to fight, then why not.. have fun ^^

The most irritating part is the 200000 ls trip, otherwise I would have high waked... haha. But yeah, if we meet again, I’m going to make a fight of it. Perhaps I’ll win, perhaps I’ll lose but I think I will do a reasonable amount of damage. That Dolphin is very manoeuvrable and fast, just a bit weak in hull strength. Maybe I’ll fit out a battle Dolphin some time.

My opinion has always been: if I'm in a combat rig, stay and fight, but if I'm in a hauler of some kind then the mission is survive at all costs. I never mix the two. And realistically speaking, if you've met even a competent PKer, no hauler is going to stand up in a fight no matter how much you gimmick it up with an extra gun or two. My advice is that if you want to get in a scrape, go to the CG in your disposable fighter and start picking fights:)

This was my very first one. I’m used to my instances being quite sparsely populated, so it was quite a surprise and I got caught with my pants down encountering someone even remotely interested in interdicting me, especially someone capable of destroying my ship. Normally the CMDRs I encounter are very quiet and don’t do much, and I might see four of them in my instance at a CG, and they’re most likely AFK at a landing pad. It was quite a pleasure to finally meet one of those types that various people in the forums have been complaining about.

I’m only at this CG on a whim... not really seriously participating but more sightseeing. The Dolphin’s loadout makes for a rubbish cargo hauler at 20 tonnes but it’s got great handling in SC and normal space. It’s a better fighter than a hauler, but the lack of firepower is its greatest weakness. Most times I don’t bother arming it.

I’d be over the moon if I could do greater than 10% damage to a combat equipped FAS in the Dolphin. I’d accept the rebuy as a fee for the privilege. The Dolphin has about the same rebuy as my Vulture but has a greater shame factor (I reckon) should I actually win.

If you manage to kill a CMDR in a FAS while in your Dolphin then I want to see a video of that ;) Daydreaming is a good thing though.

Vulture on the other hand is a very capable combat ship.

I'm happy to see multiple threads this morning with folks having good attitudes and taking it lightly.
