Word of warning for when 2.1 goes live

I know we've discussed a few things like NPC AI strength/clevereness/combat skill increases, and increase in interdictions(out for debate still) , just beware that Engineers have given us a world of buffs for our modules(and in return we get some nerfs too) .

This brings about lots of over powered situations that need balancing in Beta. As we know from the past, and practically in ALL games , not all of them are caught in time.
Currently we have , under certain circumstances :
Hugely over powered shields
Beam lasers that can fire forever(and reduce your heat at the same time !!!)
Really stupid ship speeds(over 800 !!!)

How many other OP stuff is out there ? don't know , but I bet they will come out in the wash once we are live.

Protect your DATA , think smart(ask for escort) , and heed warnings, before coming back to the bubble in 2.1 :)

I hope they keep the really fast ships, its lots of fun and only the really small ships can go THAT fast, which is fair given they're made of crate paper and armed with sling shots.

So it is business as usual?

:D S

yup :D but I must admit it is harder once you have been interdicted ! p.s. Also , with me, the game has a habit of not accepting my submission every 5th-10th time(random) which means you have FSD cool down penalty, and that hurts when you are trying to run !!!

Do these high speeds cause the pilot passing out effect at all? I think it's still in game, where the screen goes red at certain high speeds, particularly on a turn. I've not tried the beta yet, so forgive me if this IS in there. (To be honest, I've not seen it in game for a while, so not even sure if the effect is still there at all.)

Yes, but only if you turn really hard. Humans in 3302 aren't as frail as they were in 2016 ;)

Yet another arms race, so yes business as usual.
But hope we have counters of all new weapons. So likely will have to spend time getting FSD cool down and jump range mods. No need to keep up with arms just keep up with how to avoid.

I hope FD understand Elite was NEVER just a combat game?

i'd be careful with a slingshot-armed ship... if joerg sprave were an engineer i'd totally install his weapons on my eagle... https://www.youtube.com/user/JoergSprave?hl=de&gl=DE

This guy is positively insane ;-)

(also i imagine thats what master chief looks under his armor ;-)

The best counter is still running, praying, and high waking like usual. If you get interdicted by a real nasty NPC (or even worse a griefer) with the new upgrades then surviving will be more dicey than ever. As for the FSD cooldown mod, I don't think there is one? There is a recipe to improve the FSD boot up time but that is from a cold start (like when that FSD mine hits you) and does not touch the actual FSD cooldown, which would be great for us but is not in 2.1 as far as I know.

As for FD understanding that the game isn't just about combat, I tend to believe that they do indeed want to push combat into every facet of the game. It certainly seems to be their priority, with everything else being lower on the list.

In order of best to worst: Polonium, Yttrium, Selenium, Arsenic. You'll probably want to gather plenty of Polonium before it becomes more rare, as it's required for the highest tier FSD range recipe.

Thank you, CMDR :)

Hope I'm not going to get my door kicked in by MI5 for Googling the best place to find Polonium hehe.

Has it been stated somewhere that it will become even more rare?

I have yet over 40Kly to go until the bubble and i really hope that im home before the launch of 2.1..

Last I tried it was much more time consuming to find any mats better than Common in the beta. Did find a bunch of metallic meteorites, but those were only offering Common materials. GATHER NOW.

With all these threads I'll be checking under the bed for 2.1 tonight.

Won't help. It's hiding in the new fog effects, lurking, ready to eat unsuspecting explorers alive. It will burn our gardens, it knows where our children go to school, it will overdraw our bank accounts and post embarrassing pictures of us on facebook, and our dogs, all beagles, will die a cruel and unusual death when 5 million tons of space station materialize inside of them in one lore breaking jump across space and time.

And everything will be full of fish.

At least the dolphins will be happy :)

Great....I have done the last 40,000Ly on 50% hull, the last thing I need is a yahoo NPC. Looks like I will have to pick my system carefully.
