Word to the wise - even doing nothing uses fuel

I found out when making that 11 hour timelapse that I started with a good tank, and ended up with nothing...except, LUCKILY enough of a main tank to fly to the star and fuel up.

I got very lucky.

So next time you decide to leave the game alt-tabbed for 12 hours, don't do it far from home ;)

Lucky, lucky. I watched closely, if I shut off thrusters, the burn rate of my Asp is listed at 0.00/h
Still, after the horror stories I've read here, I'm very paranoid, and exit the game if gone for longer than 10 minutes.

When I was helping out with the Soontill mystery and carrying 1T of Hafnium, I was sure the Hafnium was siphoning my fuel off as I could see the bar dropping while I waited outside an outpost.

Turns out having thrusters online and idling burns a fair bit of fuel over time (which in hindsight makes sense) :)

I once alt-tabbed and then walked away thinking I'd quit for some reason and left it overnight. Fortunately I was back in ~18h later, if I'd been out that night and left it for two night's I'd have come back to the insurance screen. I double check now if I'm alt-tabbing while playing and getting tired.
