Community Event / Creation Worlds of Elite - Achenar, Beacon of the Empire

[FONT=&quot]This is the first in a series of posts I have dubbed 'Worlds of Elite'. In this I will be detailing and exploring the capital systems and significant worlds of Elite Dangerous. First I will cover the Empire, and in this edition, Achenar the capital.

ACHENAR
Beacon of the Empire

As one enters this system, they are greeted by the blinding white-blue glow of the massive B-Class star. The impressive 2 million old star is 4 times larger than SOL and nearly 10 times more massive. The gravitational pressure forces incredible fusion allowing the surface temperature to reach surface temperatures above 23,000 Kelvin. One can travel to a tourist's beacon nearby the star - which lists the different emperors (and empress) that have governed the empire since its conception.

[FONT=&quot]The closest object orbiting this massive star is 1.5 times further than the Earth is from Sol. However, even at such distance, the surface temperature of the metal-rich world - Achenar 1 - reaches over 1000 Kelvin. It would be more accurate to call this a ball of metal, as it is 100% metal. It has a relatively low gravity of 0.68G, despite being 0.09 times the mass of the earth. The Empire has long depleted the reserves on this planet. The only location of interest to tourists would be the beacon which details Sen. Denton Patreus' promotion to Admiral of the Fleet by Emperess Arissa Lavigny-Duval.

Achenar 2 is a much larger and denser metal rich world 2.5AU from the star. Even here, temperatures at the surface reach above 800 Kelvin. In contrast to the first planet, this one presents an iron magma volcanism - which is a popular destination for geological tourists - which may be able to view an array of fumaroles.

Achenar 3 is a super-sized high metal content world 3 times larger than the earth and 41 times more massive. This high density accounts for the incredible 6.7G gravity. Even 4.5AU out from the star, the surface temperature averages at 627 Kelvin. The refining outpost named Jones Dock orbits this planet, though does not contain any trade facilities.

[FONT=&quot]Twelve astronomical units out from the massive star orbits a Class III Gas Giant, Achenar 4. This relatively small and blue gas giant has caught in its orbit the moon - Achenar 4A. This small rocky world 0.009 times the earth's mass is tidally locked with the gas giant which it orbits in 9 days. Temperatures on this planet are still above boiling, but ground facilities exist at Greenstein Silo. The military base exports non-lethal weapons, hydrogen fuel and assorted scrap. In orbit, one can find a beacon which details the speech of Sen. Denton Patreus against the London Treaty - where he declared that the Empire would now build as many capital ships as it wished to.

Achenar 5 is a small high metal content world with a carbon dioxide atmosphere which orbits 25AU from the star. Due to its 99% carbon dioxyde atmosphere, temperatures average at 805 kelvin. Despite a relatively normal 0.9G gravity, this rock has 124 atmospheres of surface pressure. Both a Majestic-Class capital ship and another refinery outpost orbit around this planet. The outpost mainly exports polymers, synthetic fabrics and copper.

[FONT=&quot]Almost 42AU from the star sits the beautiful Class III Gas Giant - Achenar 6 - around which orbits three habitable planets and a smaller moon. This gas giant orbits the star in over 28,000 days. Notable satellites of this jovian are the Capitol, capital world of the Empire, Conversion, New World and Yamaha's Grave.

Yamaha's Grave is the closest to the gas giant, orbiting the giant in 20 days. So far from the star, and without an atmosphere, this planet has freezing temperatures of 248 Kelvin (-25o Celsius). If you're looking for a nice place to land, Baynes Horizons is a colony on the surface. Baker Terminal, a coriolis spaceport, orbits this planetoid as a refinery - exporting limpets, copper and polymers. A point of interest also in orbit is the beacon detailing the war with the federation - which won the Empire the support of many other systems.

New World is the most recently terraformed world in Achenar, following a boom in population. It is 5 times less massive than the Earth, yet still has a gravity of 0.58G. Residents of this world will likely be weaker than those of Earth. Even the surface pressure is quite low at 0.25 atmospheres. The nearly 60% oxygen atmosphere makes up for the thin air. It orbits the gas giant in 70 days. The service-based orbis station, Bell Terminal, orbits around this planet - as does a beacon detailing the coronation of Hengist Duval

Conversion was the second terraformed in Achenar. Still less massive than the Earth, it has a relatively similar gravity and atmospheric pressure. However, due to the 1.3% water atomsphere, the climate is highly tropical with an average temperature of 317 Kelvin (43o Celsius). It orbits the gas giant in about 230 Earth days, while a day on Conversion lasts nearly 48 hours. The service orbis station, MacMillan Terminal is found in orbit of this planet.

[FONT=&quot]Achenar 6D, Capitol, is the central world to the Empire. It houses the Imperial Palace and Senate, as well as the Hall of Martyrs which lies beneath the palace. Multiple tourist beacons in orbit of the beautiful super-earth detail the history and origins of the Empire. For all intents and purposes, this planet is a second Earth, except for being a tad bigger, and 1.8 times as massive. This means the gravity is 40% stronger than on earth, breeding sturdy people. It orbits the gas giant in 823 earth days, however, rotates on itself in less than 18 hours. Though far from the giant it orbits, it is still eclipsed from the nearly indistinguishable Achenar star for a period of its orbit. The service-based orbis space station Dawes Hub orbits this planet.

The rest of the star system is made up of a couple more gas giants and refinery outposts orbiting these. They are pale and 84 to 406AU from the star and none comparing to the size of Achenar 6.
