Had to vote the Asp as well, I think they butchered it.

To me it was a sleek, sexy, iconic ship. I can still remember seeing those babies power away with that single giant 21G rear thruster - then they'd turn to take you out and it had such a slim flat profile front on.
I hate how they put two thrusters with wings on them and that giant extending right down the front of the ship to the cockpit. Lost all of its class:(

Federal Dropship I think looks cool, not sure about the name though. Interested to see the Federal equivalent of the Imperial Courier. The Fed Corvette and Fer-De-Lance look to be awesome but not in game yet.
ZP Hauler and Adder look very average but I see that as reflective of their purpose and size. No one is staying in them long anyways before moving to either a Viper or Cobra which both look excellent.

I think they're all great really, the Adder's lack of visibility is actually a plus for me, stops me getting vertigo when i look out at the galaxy :D I'll go with the Cobra as my least favourite even though i still have no problem with it, essentially it looks like a squashed Chewit.

I like them all. Alpha and Beta have given me a new soft-spot for the sidewinder. And I voted 'adder' as worst because of the reasons stated by the OP. It's really a Hauler Mark II. The Adder should look more like a Babylon 5 shuttle.

I would love to see the Asp flattened into more of a disk and give it more speed and very good front firepower so it can boom and zoom whilst providing a low sillouette. I would also love to see the Adder changed to that one above, made more brutal and tough as that is how I saw it originally - it was a flying brick but it was tough! And yes definitely they should stick with the naming convention of the previous games and stop calling ships Lakon X which is just plain dull. I never thought I would prefer some of the Frontier ships to these ones but I do, I always saw the Asp as a version of the Millenium Falcon and now its ended up completely without character at all. I hope they have time to revisit some of the designs at some point and call the Adder something else like Lakon 0.5 and create a new tough square edged Adder.

I think its pretty telling that it seems to be the later ships that are generally the least favoured, when they were rushing to get the game released and perhaps not taking appropriate care over the later designs.

The naming convention is related to company, I thought? You have a list of ships named after snakes, partly because they look like snake heads. I think it makes sense for freighters to be named <company> Type-#.

I just want more whale/shark named ships. There's the Orca... where's my Hammerhead?
