Worth coming back now?

Hi guys!

I have been taking a break from Elite for a while and now I consider coming back. With 2.4, are there new things to do other than thargoids? I mean, thargoids are interesting, no doubt about it, but are there things you can really DO? Like new ships / weapons / engineers ...something like that?
I used to farm credits by trading and passenger missions, is it still the way to go? :D

There are no new ships, but one is rumoured to come. There are a whole bunch of new thargoid related modules. Boards spawn more missions, which means money making is pretty easy. In general, if you liked it before you'll like it more now. If you didnt you still wont.

What sort of answers are you expecting to get?

The game hasn't really changed. If you quit because you didn't like it, you still wouldn't now.

Depends when you last played! if you haven't played for over a year then you'll find loads of new stuff.

Personally the game hasn't really change for me in 6 months and 2.4 so far hasn't added anything to attract me back! This isn't a moan I have over 1000 hours played I love the game but unless you're prepared to engineer and travel quite a bit Thargoids won't give you new stuff... maybe in 2.4.1 onwards!

Next year is going to be big!

Thanks for your answers guys! :)
I LOVE the game, spent too much time with it and got burnt out, so I took a break :D
I loved to grind for engineers (and credits :D). Are passenger missions still the most profitable way to go?

If you played 2.3 then I have to agree there's not a lot of changes aside from the Thargoids, but no matter what version you're playing I think the key is to mix up mission types, and for some it helps to find a group to play with.

I've been away for about three weeks, and I hadn's seen any of the 2.4 update yet. Today I was on, and I think the NPCs are a bit harder now, especially the higher level ones. They also seem to keep their damage and don't magically regenerate to 100% after you disengage then get interdicted again. I got into a wonderful scrap with me in my Vulture against a Deadly Federal Corvette and a Dangerous Anaconda. It took me the better part of an hour to conclude the battle since their combined firepower could overwhelm my mildly engineered Vulture faster than I could drop the shields on either one of them, and their SCBs. Next time I'll carry chaff :)

The persistence of ships sent against you when you do missions has improved a lot. Every time you disengage and low-wake, they're back on your tail in about twenty seconds.

I'm back after a year break and I can tell you there is nothing new really.
