Worth selling type 6 and viper for an ASP?

I can afford asp if i sell my type 6 and viper and still have couple mil for ups is it worth? I trade alot and plan to explore in the future.

The Asp is a great fighter and has comparable cargo to the T6. With a Clas A FSD (5mil CR) you can get 30 lY unladen jumprange as well. I would/did that exact same thing a while ago and have ZERO regrets. It is expensive to fuel and repair though, be ready for that.

I'd say stick with what you have until you have more money. My understanding is that the Asp is considerably more expensive to operate. The 6 works quite well for exploring, I really love that ship. I'll probably get a Type 7 before I get an asp.

I'd probably keep the viper but Type 6 is definitely a candidate for a trade-in. You can get (almost) the same cargo in Asp and flying it is much more fun. I did exactly that at some point and I have no regrets. Just make sure you have 400k for insurance (backer number, new players would get it a bit higher) and some seed money to start trading once you switch the ship.

Having one ship over two is an advantage if you want to move around. Needing to relocate your type 6 and viper is a pain.

You have to buy an extra throw-away ship to use as a shuttle.

OT: The Asp is a pretty fantastic all-rounder. Thing of it like a giant Cobra.

A maxed out Asp for combat plus trading will cost you 30 million. A trader version will cost you 12 million with a larger jump range using mostly D rated hardware. Dial in the best FSD and lighter weight hardware and one can easily hit a 31LY jump range. Maybe more without weapons. But one doesn't want to go "into the black" without a decent setup to protect yourself. Your insurance will hit 1.2 million with all the goodies. Max cargo is not the issue with an Asp. I used 80 and did well with rare commodities. If you are looking for max cargo then go with the Lykon Type 7 and work the standard commodities. If your goal is to explore ASAP then the Asp is an entry level ship to do this.

Oh my god. Over a million in insurance for a geared up Asp? Holy cow. And I thought the 85K insurance cost for my Viper was a lot lmao.
Seems being able to have a good steady income and at least 10 million credits should be enough to maintain an Asp and if anything happens...but seems the only way to do that is by trading and I've only got a Viper with a 4 slot cargo bay.

An alternative would be the Cobra. My Cobra has C-class gear, A-class power distributor, pulse weapons, KWS with an insured price of 51K. With 40T of cargo, it pays itself off in a single trade run loop. If you do transport missions, there's enough cargo to easily handle the sub 40T trips which often have payouts between 60-80K. It has an unladen jump of 15 LY, which IMO is a sweet spot for hoping over every other star to get somewhere quickly or reach those hard to get locations. Just something to think about, unless you don't mind grinding to have sufficient bank to cover the loaded ASP :)

You will still need the Viper for fighting and the Type 6 for trading.

So better make some more money.

On the other hand... do whatever you like.

Got those three in the garage and take them for whatever I feel doing.

I would say keep trading in your type 6 until you have several million more than you need. Then, if you wanna go full combat, pimp out that asp and hunt down elite anaconda assassination missions for cash.

I sold my T6 and Cobra to get ASP and totaly regret selling my T6, sure ASP have close to the same cargo but not quite there so i bought back my T6 for hauling.
