Horizons Would be nice to TOW a ship, like your Jeep on the back of your RV... OR, fix the random spawns...

I think it would be a cool idea to be able to couple a ship wither another ship and make a HUGE ship, so you can hop in your type 9 that is slower than a snail up a tree and tow your FDL or Cobra or SOMETHING that can defend itself out to mine a ring.

That type 9 is NOT a good miner if you are not submissive. At least in my type-7 I can boost boost boost through people spawning when I start the game again when I am camped way out in the boonies mining a pristine metallic ring.

Type 9 FORGET ABOUT IT. I was hoping that I could fill about 1/2 or so of my holds last night and then finish it off this morning. NOPE. Lost it to a DBE and a CMKIII... (NPC wing)

There is a reason why I went out of my way to drop out of supercruise and fly WAY out in the sticks. Because I did NOT want anyone spawning by me. But when the game gets restarted after exiting, the damn respawns happen again. It sucks... What a waste of millions to rebuy that stupid ship.

Oh yeah, and then I guess because I had 400+ holds on the thing, I flew back out, got chased by a clipper who left me alone (not really a chase, like a running back chasing a possum) after he saw I only had Limpets in the holds.

Then after mining for about 5 hours, I had about 300 or so holds filled with PPP and some G and the damn 4A refinery broke and refused to process anything else. Then I could not get into supercruise to get out of it all and return to the base because it said I had gear/hardpoints/scoop deployed and I tried to close everything, but I could only exit the game and return, and then before random jerks spawned, I low waked out of there back to the station. I was expecting to be Id'd 20 times but not one word or anything... Type 9 SOLD to buy back my type-7...

Anyways. Just my two cents...

I guess you could just learn how to fight in the T9.. I tend to mine outside the bubble, even when inside you can easily kill any of the spawns and just move on. Equip a fighter if you are suffering, learn pip management and install decent shields. Blaming your tools is never a good thing.

Hm, the only place I don't like mining in my T9 is in a HighRES/HazRES (i.e. at the edges).

Indeed too risky, but so far I haven't had issues with it.

And I mean after logging off, I know NPCs will spawn. Even after a connection loss there's plenty of time to boost out of Mass-Lock and check what's coming after me.
If it's nasty, I can still HiWake even from a Wing of 3 Clippers, just because they'll take their time approaching, scanning and making their demands.

If anything it could use a tad more agility inside a Belt - but if you're running a T9, you're not really looking for "speed-mining" anyway. There's better/faster Ships for that.
And compared to the NPCs that my Mining Conda typically sees in SC, flying the T9 tends to spawn rather mild opposition in comparison.

PS.
A SLF is a quite useful throwaway tool to take aggro off a T9. I'd recommend fitting one, if not already done.

Several things happened to make me mad at the T-9.

The FIRST was that damn npc spawn. Yeah, It is NOt a fighter. I just had not mined in months and I forgot how some of those ships can be and this was the FIRST time I had taken out the t-9 ever. It felt like driving a bus that kept trying to break down. I mean, the engines sound aweful. It tried to fire up, gets to almost 300 and then backs down again... My t-7 is like a hummingbird compared to the t-9. Never had to fight in it because I always boosted out. but the t-9 boost is sooooo damn slow... And no doubt, I should not blame the tools or the game, but in this case, I hate the t-9 and it sucks... SLF? Not familiar with that. I will have to look- Oh. Yes, I was going to consider that but I did not know that I could put one in a t-9. I saw the hangers, but nothing for the slf hangar. That is good to know. I will consider that next time, but I was going for maximum cargo space because I know that I can leave in the t-7 and get about 8+ million for about 1.5 hours of mining, and I like to hunt the minerals, I find it oddly relaxing to just flutter around from rock to rock squeezing out the good stuff.

Hey if you are out of the bubble with a ship and mining in a nice spot and you exit the game, when you return do NPCs still spawn there with you? I would think not, but based on what I have seen, why wouldn't they? One thing is for sure, I am not going to consider getting a t-9 until I have at least 250mil in the account. Until then, Now that I think of it though, I really should have considered getting an anaconda instead of the t-9. I just wanted something that held a lot more than the t-7.

Oh and yeah, I had no shields... I was running 440+ or so cargo hold size. I run no shields on my t-7 as well. no issues.

So.... you got greedy, you gambled, and you lost?

If you mine outside the bubble you wont see NPC's... You have to be 700+LY outside the bubble. Vindelanos pretty much summed up this whole topic.
