Would shock mines be useful for a trade ship as they boost away whilst not able to jump?

Never really used them. Wondering if they're a worthwhile upgrade on my Cobra Mk III, which is used solely for non-combat tasks.

The hard points are currently occupied by seeker missiles.

Mines will mince anyone who follows you in a line who doesn't have a point defence. Be careful though, I shot some twit pk'er the bits the other night who thought his mines would reach me while he murdered a T6, my single PD kept up with his two launchers no problem.

I remember shock mines. Yes they were, until Frontier nerfed them by introducing magic, flying sideways, NPCs that could avoid them. The mines focused on damage were even better.

Effective mines and backfacing cannon have been requested for a long time. Frontier doesn't care.

Lol flying sideways isn't magic. If anything directly chasing a ship popping mines is insanely stupid and it's good that the AI isn't outwitted by it. Also your reverse cannon is called a turret :)
