Hi CMDRs,
With the Chromed and Golden paintjobs in the shop at the moment I thought it would be an ideal time to propose an initiative that might benefit both the players and FDev.
I've made a small mod (UNRELEASED) that enables you to restore the original 2017 reflective Chrome & Gold paintjobs. The new ones still look great (Chromed and Golden), but are relatively matte compared to the previous versions. Whenever anyone posts an image of the old versions there's always envious replies wishing FDev would re-release the originals. But I feel that's never going to happen.
I'd like to get the community's opinion, and ideally FDev's, whether the mod would encourage players to purchase the Chromed and Golden paintjobs?
A few extra notes about the proposed mod:
I'd really appreciate your opinions, whether they be positive or negative, thanks!
Here's a short video to demonstrate the different levels of reflectiveness that I assigned to a keybind: Default, 1/2 shiny, and full shiny
PS. Sorry about the poor camera-work
I only had a keyboard and mouse today to control the camera

A few extra notes about the proposed mod:
- It doesn't alter any game files (the modding software 3Dmigoto sits between the game and the GPU)
- It's client-side only, so others won't see the mod (you can't make a stealth ship .. in fact, using a metallic paintjob probably makes you more visible)
- The mod doesn't offer any competitive advantage
- It doesn't require installation of EDHM (I can make a standalone version)
- It only affects Chromed and Golden paintjobs
- It looks awesome
and screenshots look incredible
- You can use a keybind to adjust the level of reflectiveness, from Default Elite up to fully reflective, and anywhere in between.
I'd really appreciate your opinions, whether they be positive or negative, thanks!
