Since the last complaints of some people including me about the lack of pvp in the game wich is in some way not designed for PvP , i would like to ask you

Would you do more PvP if the game would give you better tools to do it and ecourage it by design?

PD:this is a public poll so people can see what you are voting.

The funny thing is PvP could be added easy in a way that wont force people into PvP who don't want it. But as usual there is this brain dead faction of the crowd who is against everything that they don't even would have to use or care about because it would be totally optional.

If I found out there was a particularly interesting fleet battle between opposing factions with a decent number of players also involved I might kit out a viper or cobra and go check it out if I was bored, but its certainly not high on my list of things to do at the moment.

Sadly i dont think there is a fix on pvp rigth now the game is just not made for pvp by design i even would say that it discourage players to do it.

I don't specifically set out to "do" PvP or not "do" it. I'll fight another ship if there's a valid reason to, whether that ship is piloted by an AI or an player.

Many MMO's do not have PvP at all. Although I would say ED is not really an MMO it is more like a single player game with multiplayer elements and shared universe.

I think it would be good to have PVP warzones that you join a side, dock and get given a small fighter to fight in. Everyone could have the same access to equipment choices (possibly modified by reputation) and nobody would risk their hard-earned ship.

I think it is the cost of PVP that puts people off, but if you could sign on for a side in an existing conflict and be provided with a no-frills imp/fed/Indy fighter to test yourself against other players more people would take it up. These could be tied to story events to help determine outcomes.

How I see it is you dock at a station, accept the mission, then get switched to a fighter that auto-pilots to a capital ship outside the station. Cue cutscene and now you are docked in the capital ship in a PVP instance. Death would have you respawn on the cap ship. Battles could be persistent or split into rounds with a ticket system for each fighter destroyed. AI ships could keep things balanced to avoid waiting for a full instance. Capital ships could be driven off or destroyed for bonus victory.

That would be like making a game inside of a game and the fact that earning credits outfiting modules and getting ship would mean 0 because in pve you already can do eveyrthing on a viper/cobra.

Its not designed for PvP at all. Elite Dangerous is a single player game in a shared galaxy. The factions ruling % in each system and the commodities market prices are shared with all players.

If you play in open you can see other players, and could participate in some sort of PvP with them, but interactions with players are rare, the game is designed around NPC interactions.

Any player who bought this game hoping for PvP only gameplay will be disappointed.

All the marketing material doesn't say this though. It uses terms like MMO which cause confusion.

If its a Single player, where is the story ? i mean , you say like this is like a Skyrim but with some other players around the map maybe... if you are lucky to see them... but in a single player game, even sandbox , you get story (gta, skyrim etc..) , this game lacks of the single player good things and pretend to be one , and lacks the Multiplayer good things but... it does pretend to be one .

For me that is called poor game design

Open-World != sandbox

Skyrim and GTA belong to the former category, E: D to the latter. In sandbox games you make your own stories.

An open world is a type of video game level design where a player can roam freely through a virtual world and is given considerable freedom in choosing how or when to approach objectives.[1] The term free roam is also used, as is sandbox and free-roaming.[2][3] "Open world" and "free-roaming" suggest the absence of artificial barriers,[4] in contrast to the invisible walls and loading screens that are common in linear level designs. An "open world" game does not necessarily imply a true sandbox. In a true "sandbox", the player has tools to modify the world themselves and create how they play.[5] Generally open world games still enforce many restrictions in the game environment, either because of absolute technical limitations or in-game limitations (such as locked areas) imposed by a game's linearity.

"In a true "sandbox", the player has tools to modify the world themselves and create how they play"

Not in this game...

In Any case... is it a sandbox is it an open world? ... in my opinion is a Massive Single Player Online , wich makes no sense to be honest, it lacks the best of both worlds at the moment.

I'd enjoy PvP much more if the penalty for dying wasn't so high. PvP is usually much more difficult (and unpredictable) than PvE, which is why I like it. But in E: D, you can't afford losing your ship 5, 10, 15 times a day (Which is what may happen with an open PvP), unless you're flying a stock Sidewinder, or you've accumulated millions of Credits already (And still own a good trade ship in a hangar somewhere), in which case it's easy to afford the 50k-100k insurance for a good Viper, even after the 15th death of the day.

But definitely, if the game was somehow oriented towards PvP, and if death was affordable, I'd enjoy it, and I would do more PvP.

This poll lacks a third (and possibly more) option(s) - There should also be a "I don't care either way, I just want to fly my spaceship" option.
This can't be said enough, it's a sandbox, there's no quests, levelling up or storylines which require your attention. It's not a guided tour.
It is however a large galaxy in which you can fly around in a ship.
And that's it, learn to fly the different ships and then do whatever it is you'd do in space should you ever get there.

I like the open play as it is. Keeps me on my toes. It would be nice if Frontier added an arena mode completely isolated from the main game for PvP deathmatching.

fixed bro

This is a sand box game with open play (where you can PvP). Fast food MMO style PvP with arenas and all that jazz is not part of the game, and it never will be (or is not planned at least). There is already PvP, the only problem right now is disconnects etc. so people can get away from death. Try find an active area with conflicts and other players and pvp there, there ar eplaces with more transit wher ethere are more players around, no fats food though.

An other problem is people influencing each other mode (solo <-> open), but that's an story for other thread.

It's easy, don't vote at all. Why does someone always have to say this. Have these people ever actually voted on something?
