I am not sure. They always look like to keep breathing is a challenge enough.
Dunno whether a hug is really helpful in such situation.
 
Having "cute" stumpy faces their epiglottis is a lot longer than it should be, because evolution can't keep up with deliberate inbreeding and the breeders couldn't see the internals. The "cute" noise they make breathing is them choking on their own faces. There is no cure.

So always give a pug a hug, they need it the poor things.
 
Ugly animals and not healthy either. Hard evidence right there that you should NEVER buy a dog from a breeder. Only the pound.
