Hi,

Frontier is making amazing cinematic trailer and I was thinking it could be awesome to get a 3D movie that is showing the amazing lore from ED in the past months.

What do you think?

If someone or a group want to put in time to make one id be okay with it but the devs should focus on the game

A fan made movie would be okay, take CMDR Skoomer for example. He is making an amazing cinematic series while on his trip around the galaxy.

I'm not talking about the devs making it, but only the idea of a movie... Even made by someone else.

Seeing the lack of interesting characters and story in game, I don't see much potential for a movie that has anything to do with the game. Maybe a film about the online gaming industry in times of kickstarter where Frontier is a part of the story?

Sounds boring. You want a movie about a guy in space shooting at rock's for 20 hrs so he can get a 1% increase in power plant effiency?

There are a few good game adaptions, though... i.e. the Resident Evil hexalogy was pretty successful, although they got more and more ridiculous with each subsequent incarnation... the first one was pretty decent, though. I also liked the Silent Hill movie... but yeah, good game adaptions seem to be the exception, so chances are an Elite movie would suck.

Interestingly, games based on movies also tend to be crap most of the time.

There are a few Elite books about, but I think it's always better for adaptations to expand a short story into a movie instead of compressing a novel. "Tales from the Frontier" would be a rich source of movies, "Cats Cradle" and "A Comet's Tale" being the most likely candidates.

Maybe the best thing to do would be to poke and prod Alan Stroud. He's supposed to be dramatising his novel.

The script could be about a guy bored as hell, frustrated because everything pays really low, nothing is worthwhile, and out of the sudden, AN EXPLOIT APPEARS, and there starts a lot of action and a race to exploit the most money out of it before fd nerfs it.

I would love to watch a film of somebody at Davs Hope constantly logging to get as many materials as possible. Followed by the Hutton run. And to finish it off somebody doing a trade run from A to B to A for four months.

Mind you, it would still be better than the Emoji movie.

For the maximum ed experience there should be a second screen in the movie theater room for people to actually watch something cool while watching ed movie.

God no, lets not give FD anything else to focus on as they've only just recently woke up to the fact that their core game is ED, not the stuff that they spent the profits derived from ED on like planet coaster and now this Jurassic thingy...
