Would you like it if the AI has purpose in the game? So they have many roles to complete? So you go to a system and its breathing with Ai with purpose and wont be so empty. You will see them do all the things space related like scouting, escorting, repairing, etc and each task has a purpose of why they are doing it.

Then you can go a step further and introduce RTS AI with purpose where they are extremely smart and can defend, build, learn and attack and give commands to players to come and help.

They too can have many roles in the game like a dictator AI taking over system by system to reach earth. :) And once taken the faction change and you need to be loyal to that faction or flee.

They can learn too so when taking system they wont just so happen to take more system. If you fight back and win over the system then next time they will be more aggressive.

This will give players more purpose to fight, trade or escort cause the Ai will be 24/7 and give reliable missions for players.

They will also need to be lots of different resources in the game and advancement in technology like in RTS games. System will have pros and cons of what they strength and weakness are. So the more system you gain the more powerful you become.

So it will be a challenge for players to keep the balance and peace from some crazy AI or player. :)

And what about players who are new?
They can be areas where they are allowed to roam offline or online and when they are ready to take on a mission or career they can enter the system in trouble. But they can also get caught if they venture into the wrong area! So it makes exploration a little more dangerous as you might be spotted by a scout petrol AI and then it might cause trouble. So players and AI will have to create protection on certain areas so newbies can fly around. This can be an ongoing missions that AI will do 24/7 and players can join in to protect those areas. Players want things to be spice out in exploration so this make it harder to go where you want. :) If you want to go to the core then protect the core. If you can build then it will help with a base there. But since no building then capital ship will be station there.

You cant defend the whole system so in the beginning the Ai and player will need to find which areas they can hold like in an RTS

And also there will be grievers and enemies and they want their own area too so the most strategic and with the right resources you can gain the upper hand. :)

I think right now the system is static is that right? Just in one location? having purpose AI you wont know where they are!

SCOUTS and Defending!
Time to send your scouts out through the milk way to find out where they are building?
Are they building a secret base in an asteroid field giving out information on something?
THE AI can do this and will inform their faction what they found.
And then they will start in preparation to toughen military security around the system.
Then a command will be given only to that faction to aid in the help

** You cant build structure in space so having this might add more interest.
Like laser orbital cannon like turrets to fight off any incoming enemy.

Or the Ion cannon from star wars to disable large capital ship from taking over the planet. Or a shield to protect the planet.

Does anyone has interest in seeing this in the game? Any other improvements? So i can make a poll? Will it help give more focus and challenge to the game for players wanting focus and wanting more then just imagine your way to the game?

It would be a good to see lots of Ai buzzing here and there in the game! You might meet an AI on exploration too! Where you can interact via pre set command! Friend or foe you have to see. :)

Or they could just disable you and bring you back and enslave you where if your spotted then a mission can be sent out for your rescue, if not then you would be lost forever. :) You have to start again with a new ship and new profile if that profile has been captured or turn to the dark side. So you must becareful not to be captured. Is this a good idea?

Summary:
  • If you like the AI in strategy games like CIV then you would enjoy this idea.
  • AI can build, learn, attack and they can be your commander, friend or enemy.
  • They give pre set commands and you can reply with pre set commands.
  • You truly will never fly alone if no other player wants to help you out.
  • Exploration will become more interesting as you could meet an AI out there!
  • Gives players who want focus and challenge to focus their skills on.
  • This could expand and they could be career modes for different professions
  • The AI will do boring jobs like escort X to X and no players will want to do this 24/7. So it can provide some purpose in the game and as well as give out missions to player to help them. No player to help with escort well the AI is there! :)
  • Missions can collide with each other so missions are not so repetitive and straight.
  • These missions can and will change the universe dramatically.
  • Offline mode wont be so lonely after all.
  • Your going to get bored just killing of the same thing at the same Spot so more challenge and fun is needed!

This all can happen already in RTS games with the AI. Its the AI i am suggesting not the turn base. :)

Argyis then you better start a revolution to stop the AI. :)

In two minds really. I want a system where player actions tend to depict an outcome rather than AI actions but one cannot have that without something to fight against. If the AI was semi strategic which meant it would not just continue on to conquer the entire galaxy, it would be reasonable. However, giving an AI in a game too much autonomy would negate the players involvement. Confinement to a small region may be fine.

On a small scale it might work, on a larger scale, we would simply encounter continual war everywhere we went which is not exactly good for traders and the like unless they beefed up pure trading ships like the Lakon series considerably with better shields and agility.
