... the left side NAV panel order list the star / planet / moon order?
I'm currently exploring in deep space. When I arrive, I look at the system map. I'll see planets 1 - 4 from the sun are heavy metal worlds and planet 5 - 8 are ice worlds. I only want to scan the metal worlds and avoid the ice balls. The distances from the star are laid out in the system map with nearby planets are to the left with distant ones to the right. So the ship already knows what this order is.
Today, when I first check the left panel, the planets are in order because I'm right near the primary star. However, as I move through the system to scan the planets, the left panel NAV list reorders as distances change and with the generic description of "unexplored" I have no idea which is planet 5 - 8. As I don't want to scan an ice world, I end up selecting planets 1 - 4 manually through the system map everytime I change targets, which takes a lot more time screenswapping than I would like.
Seeing as the planet order is already known, why can't we label the unexplored planets listed in the NAV panel to reflect their order? Then when the order changes as we move we still know which one planet 5 is per this mock-up I did below. Do you feel this would be helpful?
