would you pay a subscription for ED?

"We are now delighted to announce that you can purchase credits from the FD Store!".
There are smarter ways to compete with credit sellers than just selling credits in the store and FDev eventually will have to follow the lead of other games that did it right. (Or may be not, they are not great at learning what other people did).
But a subscription model would afford more content...
First, it will hollow the player base to the bare minimum and then the game will just slowly die because FDev won't be even able to sell their paid DLC. I'm certainly not buying it if it comes with a subscription. About the only game that can still justify the subscription model is WoW and even they are slowly losing players to other MMOs that don't have it.
if you want subscription so much, just keep buying those stupid paintjobs every month.

It doesn't matter what the vocal minority says. FD will make changes based on a business plan only they have access to. They're writing a game so they can pay their salaries and send their kids to a good school.
FD has no moral responsibility to provide for your wishes; purchasing and playing the game is entirely at your risk.
Change to free-to-play? Players will go, others will come.

Pleasantly brutal truth. Could be improved by adding "You are all, ultimately, worm food.".

Wasn't Eve online a subscription from the start? it is nothing like it was back then today. years and years of funded development, couldn't be bad for elite, right? allthough i certainly wouldn't go for a subscription now, as i probably wouldn't have paid for an eve subscription at the start. probably just needs to get the community involved in creating skins for ships and sell em on the frontier store, keeping the community alive and keeping frontier alive, too.

Eve kicks out major new content every few months and they keep their customers well informed of everything on the horizon.

Obligatory message here: go play Eve if it is so awesome.

No need for that message here, this thread is about subscriptions and elite. eve online can be used here because it is a successful game that still uses that model.

besides, i come to elite looking for a different experience than eve.
