Would you pay upfront for the next Paid Expansion or wait to see how it pans out?

So Seeing all these posts on paid / unpaid content etc and it made me think when / if the next big update was paid would i buy it straight away or wait for the issues to be ironed out.

Personally i only really play now when updates roll out to see whats changed and see if anything new will keep me hooked. I'll bimble around for a bit make some money get bored and come back next update.

However i did get quiet excited hunting for the Thargoid bases etc until one after another they where bugged and i came to the conclusion that we where just waiting for content to be add / fixed and that nothing we actually did seemed to make any difference. My biggest let down was the timed beacon never seen so many CMDR's in one play and also the disappointment when nothing really happened. (really think they missed a trick with that one)

I might be alone but the pace at which this Thargoid story has and is still unfolding is painfully slow. and full of holes, why are we only now collecting tissue samples when we have had crashed Thargoid ships on planets for months, we could have done all this while they finished what they where doing.

It's a shame when you tell your friend about the game and you say it's a Great game but......

i'm not saying this game should be easy and don't really have a problem with the grind of some tasks etc but i definitely think i would think twice before dropping any more money on expansions until i knew there was something solid to keep me hooked.

i sometimes wonder if some of the content is added because they can (engineers) (CQC) (Powerplay) (even planetry landing is cool but most the time completely usless (esp since the beige planet problem popped up) once you've seen one big brown blob you feel like you've seen them all .

i also wonder about the reasons to keep playing when we have been told that next year there are going to be a range of improvements to the core game etc. make me wonder if it's worth keep playing now or wait until they have finished (thing about all those people grinding engineer mats to only have them removed as a requirement a few months later.

this isn't a rant or an attack of the developers as a whole the game is fantastic i just find it frustrating esp as i don't have the time to grind ranks etc as a semi casual player this are simply my observations and opinions.
and trying to get Friends into this is difficult (trying to explain why i was to find out that the ruins where bugged and that i had wasted days trying to help out with the effort to find out it was pretty much pointless)

anyway your thoughts???

i must admit this is the same reason i brought horizons but apart from being a bit of fun it never really seemed to amout to anything, unless you count the Skimmer Stacking Scandal lol
i imagine most people who spent any amount of time scanning for the ruin sites loved it to start with lol

I know plant scanners etc might be coming but we can plot a course from one star system to another but we can't identify a spot on a planet from more than a few KM'S

the new Galnet audio will be a nice addition but would love to see something like the old C&C Cut scenes would be epic. (again they year 3303 and they just rediscovered the podcast)

If your boredom level is consistent from update to update, maybe it isn't the game.

See you next update. Looking forward to seeing another similar post from you then.

Like everything I do these days. I will wait for release to see whats really offered, Consider that and go from there. I have done the pre-release thing in the past and have had mixed results. Kerbal Space Program turned out fantastic.Think I paid something like 30 bucks. What an awesome deal that was. Countless hours of continuing enjoyment. When their next expansion is released, I will probably get it just because. DayZ however, hasnt been as great a success. Its kind of like SC, it may grow up someday. Will have to wait and see.

Also,I have bought stuff in the past I actually dont play because it turned out not to be what I enjoy as much. Happens I guess. So being that Im in the poor house these days. I wont do anything unless I can and I am sure. I say all of this from years of experience going back to Pong days.

Not that I dont Love Elite. But were a good ways off I think.I wanna see if I am still alive first. Somehow that seems way more important. ;) I will worry about Elite 3 when the time comes and that sure aint now. No point in putting out the Christmas tree anytime soon. lol

I've spent way more money on way dumber things in various games.

So yes, no issue supporting the active development of this game.

I generally don't do early access/pre-order/season passes as I don't put much value on promises.
I did pay 40€ for Horizons but that is the value the explorer in me puts on airless landings alone and we got it right at release, the rest of the season didn't interest me much and didn't impact my decision to buy.
Same with future expansions really, I'll only buy them depending on what is already in.

I would buy it. It's a form of supporting the devs of the game and I like what they do so, I'll support them.

Should never pre-order.

This.

People that pre-order are an issue within the gaming industry. You should always wait for reviews and find out what you're getting before buying (which I'll admit I didn't do with ED I bought it on release day LOL but then I'd heard so much good...)

Considering the loyalty rewards that are given, yes, as I would hate to miss out on some unique ship/module/skin that would otherwise be unobtainable.

Right now it's just the Cobra mk. IV, which isn't much on its own, but I feel that my experience is made better by being able to fly it. It was also the first ship I ever tried mining with, so I guess I associate some kind of value to it.

No.

Saying that I brought Horizons just to be able to land on planets, the rest of it diddnt bother me, tbh I diddnt really know what was coming, but seeing what did come ....

I know there is going to be paid expansions and I will buy them I dont doubt that, but wont be cash up front this time around.
