would you play ED if it had a Nostalgia mode

Im thinking flat textured low detail ships, stations etc looking like FFE that runs on dx9 hardware and windows Vista and up ;). All in all I would love nostalgia mode not only would it give ya that warm glow which FFE and Elite did but after all it would allow ED to be ported to stuff like Raspberry Pi, Android and iOS devices so we could pilot anywhere :D

No.

A couple of years ago I replayed the first flight simulator I'd ever owned. The original was more than 30 years old. To play it nowadays on a PC, I needed the help of a ZX Spectrum emulator. It was awful!

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be...

No thanks.
All this "old-school-looking nostalgia" games should be burned, with their creators tied to stakes and put in the middle of fire. All these 80s and 90s games looked that way because back then PCs and consoles weren't powerful enough to support good graphics. We have such machines today - there is no need to make some ugly-looking pixel things just for the sake of it.

If it had BB missions like there were in Elite II: Frontier and in Frontier: First Encounters, the nostalgia mode would actually be an improvement over the current game :D

So yes, I would play it ;)

Don't speak to me of nostalgia. :p
I still play Princess maker via Dosbox. It's still better that the latest princess making simulators. You can become the god of war, work in a brothel, marry a dragon and kill satan-- and then bribe the local priest to make your sins go away.

Remember when you had to play games through command lines, because that's all we had?
My first game ever was a flight simulator. Not sure which, but it was before Win95. Had to run it through Dos, when I was like 5.
It's like, Mom, why can't I just have a NES?

She gave in, in the end. N64, Ocarina of Time. Goldeneye 64. The things dreams were made of.
Dreamcast was sweet as well. PSO RAcaseal4lyfe.

Command Line? Luxury... We had to build our computers and they were too expensive for playing games on (when anyone was looking).

I didnt buy the game for nostalgc reasons, Iwas hoping it would be similar in someway. It was a simulation more than it was about immersion, they lost that.

No thanks.

Silly boy, we would have no ED in that case. You realise the original creator is behind this marvel of code?

Tsk.
One day I hope you grow up enough to appreciate things. When that day arrives and you harken for the days of 30 years ago and want to play GTA5, ED, CoD, etc... then you might remember how stupid you sounded at this moment in your life.
