Would you play this new play mode I'm proposing here?

So: I was thinking, I know thats lethal with me; however the result of my thinking was a simple, easy to implement playmode that I for one would use and I would like your feedback on this before I make it a suggestion...

My idea was it would be great fun to be able to dock at a station with in a system where a conflict is ongoing, and go into the mission board for either of those factions, and if they have High Intensity CZ's which include a capital ship on their side, you could take on a new mission to be one of the pilots for the capital ships complement of fighters. Accept the mission for X number of kills in the CZ, and you fade to black screen transition into the cockpit of the appropriate type of fighter, condors for farraguts and gu97's for majestic's, then start hacking away at the enemy. Losing the fighter would result in a timed respawn screen where you have a small amount of time, lets say one minute, to select an alternative loadout and or customise it, kind of like you get in CQC death matches.

To finish your campaign, either complete the prescribed number of kills and end up back at another fade to black transition into your own ship on the landing pad where you took the mission, or to abandon it, log out to main menu or desktop?

You could even stick some bells and whistles on this where by the mission screen has the ability to adjust the number of kills you sign up for, with corresponding adjustments to the rewards to the player and the influence shift associated with their missions successful completion. More kills getting more rewards, rep and influence.

i would play that. to be honest, any sense of originality is welcomed. first it would force Frontier to add the tech that would be nessesary for direct interaction with capital class ships, such as megaships (contextual interaction out of direct control) which could also be a good way to imprement contextual interactions to more things (IE allowing us to finaly "talk" to NPCs in another way than just shooting at them).

then, it would be a very good way for early players to get a taste of large scale combat without being assblasted by the boosted NPCs, cause for them it can be extremely frustrating to lose their ship when 6 enemy ships suddently focus on the player, because their 'threat level" is higher than a regular NPC.

Yeah I'd play that. A high-intensity skirmish in fighters around capital class ships sounds fun.

There'd have to be some kind of downside though - there's no risk to the CMDR in your suggestion.

+/- to a required material based on results. Do well and +++ to your CDCs, stink at it and loose some mats.

I've advocated something similar to this in the past. The Air Force doesn't require me to provide my own airplane when I join them to fight in a war. It would make challenging (where you can lose) combat fun without the added cost of rebuy after rebuy after rebuy, and it would remove the terrible imbalance in PvP.

Bring it on :D

I would play it. :)

And yes to a good risk/reward ratio.
There should be the risk to come out poorer than you went in, if you do badly. But, like Old Duck suggests, the risk should not be deterring and less than using your own ship for this fight.

Well if you had to pay for the costs of the fighter you were using.
'Oh you've been blown up 15k credits for a new fighter. These things don't just grow in the hangar bay'. The sum total of rebuys being in effect a reduction of the reward for the mission. Lose 10 fighters on a two mill mission and suddenly that mission isn't worth so much.
Although I do like the idea of being paid in materials with a fixed credit sum attached.

Yup, I'd play.

There doesn't really need to be a risk reward system in place.
You just get awarded more bonds for not wasting fighters.

Basically CQC, with bots, and drop in/out gameplay.
You can't join these in your own ship, you just sign up from the station, and enter a CQC style battleground.

Some of us have been saying since the game's inception that this is how military progression should be handled. Your proposal is a little more "detached" from the main game than I would ideally like -- I would like to see us dock with a military outpost, be assigned to a capital ship and jump into the warzone aboard it -- but it's more in fitting with the way the game already handles SRV and SLF transitions so might be easier to implement.

I'd certainly give it a go, especially if it was tied into military progression. Not being a fan of the Corvette I'm feeling little inclination to climb the Federal ranks beyond the Lieutenant I've already achieved (and I can't even remember why I got that far; something to do with the Exbeur permit maybe). But if this was an optional way of earning promotion I might be inclined to enlist again.

Downside could be you have only so many replacement fighters, if you lose them all you are locked out of that activity for X hours and lose a percentage of your loot.

I would. But make no mistake, guys at FDEV just loathe interesting and addicting ideas. They like detached stuff (CQC) or totally messy ones (powerplay).

Honestly, their work is at times like a humour book written by Germans. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Lets hope new(ish) team knows more what FUN means than Sandro & Co.
