Wow. Annoying facial interface light leak fixed easy as that.

There's been this mildly annoying light leak, top right, in my Rift since day 1. I though it was because it didn't fit my facial contours... Just now when I was cleaning the lenses I noticed an ever so thin, yet long gap on the outside where the interface meets the HMD. I pushed lightly on it and it went *click* ... the gap disappeared and now the irritating effect of the light catching some of the fresnal ridges on the opposite corner, has vanished. And its darker in general inside when I'm wearing it. Yay! Just thought I'd share.

You can take that part with the foam completely off, to clean or replace it from time to time by the way. You can just pull it off and fit it back. The click indicates that it sits firm. There are also companies, offering slightly longer parts, so you can better fit glasses when wearing the Rift, if you need to.
To get it even darker, you can add a little piece of black cloth in the nose gap. Once it is fully dark, the colors appear more saturated and the god ray effect is less present. You need to use a material, that is capable of collecting moisture though.

I've been umming and ahhing about the 'VR Cover' facial interfaces for a while now, those velour ones look like they'd be hell comfy. I don't wear glasses tho, I'm looking for comfort, hygiene and apparently slightly improved FOV(which would depend on which bits you used).

My Rift itches the hell out of my nose, I cant get the material inside to stay off my nose, it(rift) always just slides back down. And I have a small nose. So I think adding more cloth might magnify the problem. Which sucks, because after playing for several hours since I fixed, I can say it is a much nicer experience now that its darker inside.

Unfortunately, since that review - the cover bundle which drkaii liked the best (and which I was going to buy) now seems to be unavailable. Not entirely sure what to do at the moment.

So is the long interface and deluxe pack.

EDIT: So I noticed that since I've fixed the interface issue, the HMD sits differently on my face. Now I don't need to keep lifting it up slightly every now and then to fix the slightly out sweet spot focus and it naturally sits lower on my face and is *much* more comfortable. Which is even better than having fixed the light leak alone, because that slight out of focus/uncomfortably positioned feeling was really irritating. I'd tried quite a few things to fix that issue and had no success. Another silly mistake by me for not checking the interface was in all the way... but why wouldn't it be?

As a pleased owner of the VR cover interface and cover, I will admit that the ordering process is a pain. Their website isn't very intuitive, and they tend to push their bundles rather than make it easy to just assemble your own ideal product.

I have that and I am not particularly stoked for it, but that could be me.
I found the included interface seem more narrow than the normal one and cause more pressure and discomfort, especially on the stems of the glasses,

So it's sitting on a shelf while I'm using the new vr-cover.
If I was buying again I probably be going with widmo instead.
