WOW, disappointing! Sale has ended? "Offer Ends Monday" is a lie.

Here I am still trying to decide whether to get the Gold Viper and a bunch of other paint jobs supposedly 50% off - when Frontier rips that decision right out of my hands by ending the sale prematurely.

"Offer Ends Monday" is a lie. And in case that's supposed to be ONLY for the free paints, then this is a HUGE miscommunication on Frontier's part.
And before you say "why didn't you buy earlier" well because I had to ask questions about the ships' powers first (i.e. how fast will I replace a ship, or will I ever go back to a smaller one) - and when I decided the Viper will be sufficiently usable for my needs, I still haven't found a gold viper ingame screenshot.
You release a new skin and before people are even able to post what it looks like in the game, you end the sale?

So disappointing. Instead of ~10€ for paints I am now paying zero.

Edit:
Hi,

This is a bug - the reduced prices weren't supposed to have changed. We're looking at it right now.
Issue has been resolved, thankfully it was a bug, thread can be closed now.

There was an issue with misrepresented "limited offer" skins which cause a minor disturbance.

I'm pretty sure if you email customer support and explain how you'd really like to buy it, they'll see you are all right.

Poor Frontier. It's hard to be a business.

They implement awesome flag-based skins for a limited window, so that people can grab 'em and show off? People complain that they weren't available for long enough, or they went away before they could buy them, or whatnot. Frontier gets accused of making a 'cash grab' by using a 'limited edition item'.

They respond to that disappointment by having another limited-time sale where the skins are available again, to help those who wanted them but couldn't would be able to get what they were hoping for? People about the fact that they thought they would be the only ones with the skins and it's not fair that other people get to buy them too, despite the fact that 'limited time' does not mean 'never again', it simply means 'not always.' Frontier get accused of making a 'cash grab' and of 'ripping off' the people who had purchased them before.

They respond to those accusations with an apology and by taking the items off the market again, to appease those who complained? They get bitched at by the people who wanted to buy them but again delayed because they cancelled the sale early. Frontier gets accused of 'scamming' and 'lying' because they acceded to the demands of a vocal, but tiny, group of customers.

You just ca'n't please everyone. People should chill the heck out. It's a paint job, it's not an ultimate weapon.

I feel bad about this too.
The crew at Frontier have my full support and I love the game and trust them to make it feature complete.
I would have been oke with them selling the flag skins but then again I did not buy one when it was out as a limited thing.
If I had bought it then, I would feel cheated, so probably it is a wise decision

While the version of events is true, don't forget that Frontier were the architects of their own fate regarding this. Nobody forced them to offer "limited edition" gear that wasn't actually limited in the first place. They made their own bed here.

so they simply lied again and took down the complete Black Friday sale because someone complained about limited ! haha

this gets better and better

fine I keep my 2 euro then, won't pay 4 for a texture I can not even see in 3rd personne

I don't think even League of Legend players get this worked up over limited skins (which Riot Games ALWAYS brings back for special sales).

Hats off to the Elite forums for reaching a new low.

Irre no offence but with the amount of complaining you do about the game and FD, why are you even buying skins in the first place?

Normal people don't give a toss.

It was limited. Limited doesn't mean 'will never be sold again', it means 'not for sale at all times, forever'. Bringing them back for a new sale violates nothing. This sort of argument is what makes a company not want to ever do something fun because if god forbid they shoudl ever change their minds or have a neat new idea about an old product, they're screwed.

If I say 'I am going to be selling this lemonade all day' and I run out, or find out my lemons were mouldy, or it falls off of the table, and I have to stop at noon, I didn't 'lie' about selling it all day. I was wrong, because amazingly we cannot know the future and things, remarkably, change over time.

Yeah the level of entitlement in posts on these forums is reaching critical mass.
More like the level of unintelligent people who mindlessly throw the word "entitlement" around in recent years without knowing the proper meaning *rolls eyes*

Fact of the matter is they said sale is gonna be until Monday. It says so right there on their website. I planned accordingly and took my time INFORMING MYSELF whether or not this purchase would be worth it for me.
It's not even close to Monday yet and the sale is over.
Call the statement whatever you want. Lie, misinformation, mistake, false. It doesn't change the facts.

And yes, in the case of Irre, even "scam" is somewhat appropriate because of a lack of notifying the user prices have changed mid-order. That's absolutely ridiculous.
Transparency and honesty are the most valuable assets you can bring to the table as a dev, because the gratitude from the userbase you earn with them can't be bought with money, yet pays itself back tenfold.

No it doesn't. The rules are clear. Some things are banned, period, and this is one of them.

The regulations ban 31 specific practices outright. These practices are set out on the following pages

6. Limited time only

Falsely stating that a product will only be available for a very

limited time, or that it will only be available on particular
terms for a very limited time, in order to elicit an immediate
decision and deprive consumers of sufficient opportunity
or time to make an informed choice.

There is no wiggle room, no way to change your mind later. Either they didn't know it to start with or did know and took the chance that nobody would notice. The only fact that we know for sure is that they stopped doing it. That tells me everything I need to know, considering how they dug their heels in over the offline issue.

For your own sake, I hope that you never make a single mistake in whatever you do for a living, because the attitude you show here toward these people who are working long, hard hours to make something beautiful that we can all enjoy is an attitude that if you were shown in your daily life you would be incensed about.

Yeah I was referring to the people that kicked and screamed so much that the sale was taken down but the statement tbqfh applies to pretty much everyone complaining over stupid matters like this.

Not even League of Legends players get this worked up over skins.

Understand the difference between FD devs and FD marketing.

As the other guy said, the amount of people throwing around the "entitlement" word for something that we ARE entitled to - ie fair trading rules - is exceptionally annoying. The amount of people who cannot tell the difference between FD devs and FD marketing is even more so.

Nobody wants to harm the game but we are not going to allow FD's marketing to abuse the rules in order to make a fast buck.

I care because you are whining non-stop over various threads about how corrupt FD is yet still putting money into their hands. Ever heard of principles? Try using them in your life then.
