wow, music makes scanning fun

I've always found I get a bit bored with exploration and have been worried I'd not ever have the drive to stick with something like a really long trek of several kLys, which I want to do eventually.

Somehow after putting ~450 hrs in the game only just this weekend tried exploring to my own sound track. Inspired by the recent addition of a tactile transducer in my chair, I went for Daft Punk Alive 2007. What a game changer, why didn't this occur to me before? Scanning, scooping and jumping is way more fun with some beats!

Heading out to North American nebula now, trying to really do a thorough job of scanning bodies. No rush, I might want to get back to the bubble when 2.1 comes, but that's still several weeks out so should be good timing for a nice leasurly loop around, might even make the next exploration rank upon return!

BTW, doing it in an Asp Scout mainly b/c of the hard choices it forces one to make in terms of modules. E.g. I have no AFMs and no cargo rack, but do have a decent fuel scoop an SRV hanger, some medium pulse lasers and a pair of small cannons (not that there's anything to shoot out here). It's a fun little ship, handles decent so fun for flying canyons - way better than the Asp explorer which feels a bit lumbering down on the surface, but with major trade off in the number of module slots. The Asp scout has oh so few module slots...

Yup. This is why there are so many "music to explore by" threads. And also why there are so many Elite music streaming radio stations.

In much the same vein as Daft Punk, you may want to look into the Psybient and Psychill genres.

Also I find Philip Glass's Metamorphosis to be especially congruous to deep space sojourns.

Fun fact: My father loved playing Glass in the house while I was a kid, my mother hated it (and enforced a Glass embargo). Didn't hear anything from him again until that scene in Starbuck's apartment on Caprica.

And while we're making that connection, the solo piano version of the BSG soundtrack is great to listen to while out there.

Thanks for the suggestions, agree that not everything fits. There are plenty of albums I love that just don't seem quite right when played in the deep. The only Glass I have currently is the soundtrack from Koyaanisqatsi, might need to pick up Metamorphosis.
