Wow, Power Play IS fun and exciting...

...Just not in ED. Lol

This is my "new" game for Christmas family funzies. It even runs on my Potato laptop. :D

I knew I'd heard the term "power play" before.

So yes, to improve PowerPlay in ED, we just need quick time events to land a space stations and other things on your opponents.

Simples! :p

Sandro says is has huge potential & it does & really everything exists already in game to enable it to be namely, of the top of my head…
1) Powers need to have more impact upon systems they Control & Exploit. If a Control system goes into Turmoil chaos should reign in the Control and Exploited systems with lockdowns, commodity market crashes, anarchy, the works.
2) Currently you need to be a member of a Discord for a Power & someone in it needs to be a master at Excel to know what the heck is going on. GalNet needs to communicate what is happening in English instead of complete gobbledygook that misses out all the important events such as when a Power loses or gains Control systems.
3) There needs to be missions of sort as an alternative to hauling Power Commodities to Fortify a system such as Assassinating Enemy Agents, a Salvage Mission to disarm a bomb or heck bring back the Camera & Reconnaissance Missions from Frontier: Elite II

Nah, I just want the option to explode something so it falls on them. :p

I kid. (I don't, imagine CQC and ship racing with split/second power plays. Lol!)

PowerPlay has huuuuuuge potential. Almost unlimited.
Right now, it's just very very very very basic and repetitive, and unless you're in to spreadsheet and flow charts, it makes hardly any sense at all.

Powerplay isn't the only thing showing up in racing games these days. Just look at Need for Speed Payback's "tune up screen."

Wonder how long he had to drive to find the materials used to get THAT random effect? :p

Repped for the bolded segment. I've only just recently dabbled in the Power Play portion of the game (Imperials because she's such a hottie!). It's almost like jumping into the deep end of the pool before you've learned how to swim.

"Take a bunch of these pamplets and dump them somewhere else." Ok, where? Um, Power Play version of the map shows "1" and "2", etc on some of these stars. Do you want them on "1" then? Is that your priority? Then two weeks later I find other segments in the screens that imply where you should be taken them.

Ok, so you learn something new every day. Like learning that there's groups of players figuring that spreadsheet stuff out that I'm not well-versed in. I'm more used to "Take this stuff and deliver it to one of these places. Our priorities are "this" but as long as it goes to one of them on the priority list, we appreciate your effort on our behalf." I'm picking things up as I go along as I'm sure a lot of people did at first.

But yeah, it would be more interesting to see a station on lock down with enemy faction ships running interference on arrivals. At least, that would make it more "dangerous", as the name implies.

Y'know what would make PowerPlay awesome, but completely different from what it is now...?

Is if we had some sort of "PowerPlay Military", a cause and effect set of missions, goals and a fairly clear "front line" where all the action is.
Each mission you do, helps towards the goals of the faction.
Easier missions are within friendly space, harder missions are on the front lines, and the really good stuff is behind enemy lines.
Each time an objective is completed or failed, a new one is created for both sides.
So for example, Faction A has a goal to Destroy a certain number Factions B's Ships in a specific system.
Faction A completed this goal, and move on to the next goal and gain a bit of territory.
Faction B however get 2 new goals. Rescue Downed Pilots, and Resupply Fleet. Or something.

Basically, it's like the Enemy Engaged Series Dynamic campaigns. But instead of 2 sides, theres like 10. Or However many factions are in PowerPlay. (I forget).
In Enemy Engaged, if a recon detects and AA emplacement, the campaign generates a mission to take it out. The other side generates a defence mission.
If someone gets shot down, your side generates a search and rescue mission.

It's an awesome helicopter sim, but the best part is probably the campaign.
PowerPlay should be more like that.

I tired to look up a video, but alas, there isn't one. Or my google-fu is weak today. Lol

Not only that also a true economy should exist, and providing trade and minerals from mining should affect a factions strength as well as conquering systems the favtion needs.Like owning a gricultural for food, and a industrial to support the agricultural with equipment. And if you only have one kind and balance breaks it's going to have bad effects. Basically all features of the gam should affect PP.
