wow..... super sampling is unreal...

Sounds like he is getting sick due to running sub 75hz. ED is the only game I don't get VR sickness in other than seated experiences.

Agreed. I have played nearly 4 hours at a time and not felt even remotely ill.

Load up something like Alien Isolation or Half Life 2 and I would be sick within 5 minutes.

I'm running DSR at x4 with all graphics options on low + a green HUD (GTX980 75hz constant). The text is much sharper with supersampling for me. I find the oculus slider at the bottom of the graphics options makes a big difference to the text quality.

No more illness at all. Just first day. In fact, I can spin all day and Im prefectly fine. I found my space legs!!
I hope I can get to this stage. I seem to be able to dogfight for ages without any issue, minig is fine too, but when I have to come into the station and roll to dock on a pad that is not below me, its stomach in throat time no matter how careful I am. I am now to scared to dock in a standard station. hehe

well... Super sampling... How did you amde it work?

I cant make it work D:

Im forcing it from the Nvidia control panel, with the Elitedangerous32x.exe ( the actual executable ) and I guess it -is- AA transperancy? yet whatever setting I put... I see no differnce. And I'm using a GTX980

Edits : Found the DSR, and I only checked the 4x from native... and this is glorious... I can finally read the everything! Not to forget me I even made my hud to be green. :D

You can use this method when using the Oculus as a second screen (rather than direct to oculus). It has nothing to do with the Program Settings for ED in Nvidia panel:
In the NVidia control panel, go to the Change Resolution section.
Select the Oculus Display icon at the top (You will notice the display size options stop at 1920x1080)
Press the customise option and add a resolution for 2560x1440. Test it to make sure the oculus display it (although it wont be in 3D)
Save that res and you can now select that resolution in Elite dangerous for the secondary (or whichever display the oculus is)
(You might need to make sure under the section in the Nvidia Control Panel (Adjust Desktop Size and Position) that the scaling mode for the oculus display is set to Full-Screen)

I've just got a new PC with a 970 in to power the Rift and it's running really nicely. I tried the 1.5x DSR level last night and it seemed to improve things, especially text readability, but I need to have a proper play around with the different settings tonight. One thing I wondered; is the Nvidia DSR setting the best way to achieve supersampling or is it better to use the supersampling option in the Elite config file. Is there any difference?

Hi all,

I just installed my DK2 and have found it so immerse but the resolution to be the big negative so far. I've an i7 + GTX970 graphics card and set the game to 1024x768. It sounds like enabling super sampling might help, but I'm unsure how to do that? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

That's pretty low resolution anyway, you need to run the rift at 1080p (1920x1080) as a minimum really. You enable DSR in the 3D Settings section of the Nvidia driver. Also it's worth making sure you're not running the latest Nvidia drivers (344.75 are the working ones iirc) as the latest are completely broken for VR.

Hi Bill - Thanks for this info - its the method I now use and I can see all text very clearly without changing the colour and I don't lean in either. + 1

I have a i7-4790 + GTX970 4G and it´s running smoothly on 1080p Ultra. Haven´t checked the DSR settings yet, but with those mentioned you should do fine.

I'm not surprised you find the resolution a big negative running at 1024x768. You need to be running it at 1920x1080

the 1.5x DSR does the trick for me - still keeping 75Hz. Text is still a bit blurry, but I can read it without having to lean in now. I also tried the colour change hack (which helps too), but I switched back. I prefer blurry orange over puke green.:p

Try light blue. I think it looks great in the Rift and very readable.

Yep my mistake I changed resolution to 1080p and works much better now. Will have a look at the 3D nvidia settings later on.

The other thing I found is that I have less problems using the rift as an extended display rather than Direct to rift as the extended display runs in SLI and with 2 x gtx980's in SLI I rarely if all see any judder.
