Wow, that must be at least 5 meters.

I am experimenting with orangutans to make a habitat with at least one null barrier. This little girls is a volunteer participant. She really knows how to jump, and I never have to wait long. I know thy can't swim, but why is she still taking this risk, beats me. This game is 3D challenged, because it doesn't show that she is already high in the air almost halfway.

Anybody knows how far they can jump? The problem is that making the mote wider takes away the visibility for the guests. They love the null barrier. They are constantly complaining of the zoo being underpriced, but I already make a big profit with only this habitat.

Not sure if that's the best time to experiment with these kind of things, because 1.0.3 introduced flaws with space/ dimension calculations. That's why many report "escaping" animals in the middle of a habitat or "glitching" through barriers.
However, I have experimented with Orang Utans as well a lot. It also depends on what and how you place things on the other side of the water.

See my habitat here. I finally gave up on the two stones at the bottom (second pic), which enable them to jump over the water. That's why I placed a physical barrier in the end.

The animals in this game have a way too huge jump rate to be honest. That is an issue I noticed as well.
Don't be silly. It's a challenge. If I though the animals are bugged, I would just put them between 4 walls and a window. My next stop is bonobonos with the same null barriers. I bet they can jump even better.

@marcnesiumH I think I've got it now. I was just a half meter away from victory. I also learned that if you catch them while jumping, you can move them back before they land on the other side. I am not very bright, because I never used the traverse heat map. Just slowly widening until she gave up. She is not trying anymore, but that doesn't mean a thing. It's dinner time for the orangs :)

you can try raising the side with the guests on it
I like it flat. The habitat is finished, and raising the guest's side will probably bring other problems with it. I think I've figured it out now. That jump was probably the largest distance she could make.
The bonobos are not even trying. And I used the heat map this time :)

The animals are obviously programmed to look for all possible and impossible means of escape. In a career scenario, I build a habitat for bears. I watched one of them making a beeline to one of the barrier walls. In front of the wall, he stopped and looked several times to the left and to the right as if making sure that there was nobody watching him (hilarious to observe, he knew exactly he was going something ”bad”!), and then he walked straight through the wall.

What the heck? I checked the habitat out in the heatmap, no escape points, but on the other side of the wall was a set of stairs built with climbable material as shown by the green lines in the heatmap. Although the bear could not in anyway get to those steps in a normal way, he simply walked through the wall. Placing some huge boulders on the steps put an end to that.

Who knows, you might actually get longer jumps than would normally be possible just because of the animals’ supernatural ways to get where they want to go.
