WP2 Region Naming

I am in WP2 currently flying through IZANAMI. Does anyone realise that this spelled backwards is:- IM A . Who allowed this? I really don't think it is appropriate

And if you play rock music backwards they have satanic messages.

You do realise the name Izanami predates the "" moniker by several thousand years?

In Japanese mythology, Izanami no mikoto (Japanese: 伊弉冉尊 or 伊邪那美命, meaning "she who invites") is a goddess of both creation and death, as well as the former wife of the god Izanagi-no-mikoto. She is also referred to as Izanami no kami.

It's a key name in the Japanese creation myth, I am sure we don't need to reject every word that can be offensive if spelled backwards or contains a combination of letters that if extracted and printed by themselves makes a word we don't like. Just be glad you're not from Scunthorpe!

Yeah, so grateful for the history lesson. Being well aware of the origins of the word, and, with most origins in modern day language, derived from fairly innocent beginnings. It may have been prudent for the developers to use a bit of creative licence to slightly alter the spelling to be more pc, after all 1939 put a whole different slant on the word which to this day offends many people

There's nothing politically correct about changing the spelling of names of gods of old religions because they cause offense to you if you play linguistic tricks with them. In fact changing the spelling of the name may be offensive to followers of the Shinto religion, so how do we PC out way out of that.

political correctness
noun
noun: political correctness; noun: political correctitude
  1. the avoidance of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against.
"women like him for his civil rights stand and political correctness"

Political correctness is just a different way of saying be polite and civil in dealing with other people, it doesn't mean using tortuous spellings of other peoples gods names to avoid a perceived but not necessarily present offense. Your "creative licence" method of changing the name of a god could just as easily be offensive, you need to lighten up a bit and realise that no-one is using the name IZANAMI to be offensive, if they were they would have put an apostrophe between the M and the I, now that would be deliberately offensive! Now seriously, if you want this taken further I suggest sending a message directly to FDEV, posting on the forums isn't going to do anything to correct your perceived offense, it's just us forum goers arguing over it!
