I write for fun. I write Science fiction mostly, Never anything larger than a short story. But i have a number of book ideas ive worked on for years + world and character building.
Recently ive tried my hand at Irvine Welsh style dark comedies.
I do most of my writing now at night in bed, with my tablet a stylus and hand writing recognition software. Works very well.

In 2017 I wrote a 144,000 word Elite Dangerous novel but after much consideration Frontier said they couldn't issue me with the necessary Intellectual Property Licence to allow my studio to publish commercially (they said they were not currently looking to partner with further authors). The 'free to read' link is here and in my Sig below. (that's if anyone is interested.... it's had some good reviews)

Nice to meet you guys. I write romance/suspense. At least that's the main genre it falls under. It borders so many others, crime, gothic, and a little science fiction. I've created my own world and I use it for each book. I'm not sure there is a real place for my books in this world. So for now I'm just posting them on Wattpad and Inkitt. LOL.

For anyone that is interested, here is a short snippet about my fictional world.

JENITHIYAH

The island of Jenithiyah and its cities are fictional. In my books and stories, an unsolvable question is really no mystery at all. What mystery, you ask? Well, let's just begin with what we all know. It's a place where ships, planes and their passengers have disappeared without a trace and the world calls it the Bermuda Triangle. But what if there was more to it? What if the souls assumed dead and lost forever didn't die? What if they were trapped?

In my imagination, these castaways washed upon a shore and beheld a glorious island as large as South and North America combined. Its water – magical – was surrounded by towering mountains so big they could not see the peaks. The land's fruit was plentiful and its presentation could only be compared to the Garden of Eden. It was so beautiful that no one would have wanted to leave – but they had families and lives to get back to.

There had been only one possible exit, one place where the mountains did not meet and it paralleled the same shoreline that every stranded traveler first washed upon. Stubborn scouts spent a lifetime seeking liberation. They sailed into the horizon, but their vessels failed and the waves carried them back to the sand. They climbed the mountains, hoping to find freedom on the other side, but instead found their demise.

Eventually, the will to survive produced a new civilization that thrived off the land. On the island, aging decreased and the life expectancy increased. Amazingly, these people shed self-interest and stood as one; helping and giving of themselves. Unanimously, they agreed that they didn't want the troubles of the outside world to destroy this beautiful place. The wise and inventive (One day known as The Council) enforced strict laws and bans. The new world progressed, their way of life – peaceful. They respected the nature, allowing it to thrive, using it for their technology that would become more advanced than any other in the world and they named this place Jenithiyah.

But nothing lasts forever. Centuries have passed and a cruelty reminiscent of the outside world plague the modern day, a lethal combination of free will and self-promotion deteriorates the serenity and infects the island that was once immune. The stories of the original settlers have become just a page in the history books and it is highly debated. Some believed them – others write them off as a myth.

The descendants remain in this society, but they no longer search for a way out. Some say there is no other beyond the one they live in. They live a life much like ours, but the differences of the place they live sometimes throw a twist into their story.

THE LITTLE DIFFERENCES

Lifespans have tripled. Some live as old as 300. A fifty year old man looks, feels and acts like someone half his age. It's very hard to tell how old someone really is in Jenithiyah.

Illness and injuries heal much faster for most. The water of Jenithiyah has healing properties and is used in most medicines. Bones can heal overnight. Few die from things like cancer ect. How fast some get over infections and illnesses depends on the amount of money you can spend on the cure. Unfortunately, the body become immune to the medicine as it ages.

The cities of Jenithiyah are all different and they all have different gifts. There's Iglue – where it always snows. Demora – a city of gambling and sin. Where it's always night. Coeur de 'Lile – the richest city and the center of Jenithiyah. Beau Reve- An island within an island. Where many celebrities go to find solitude.

The laws are strange. The punishments for breaking the laws are different. They go to jail – but they must work in a garbage dump, separating each item into piles. But – if they find themselves serving more than ten years in prison – they are doomed – thrown into a hole deeper than the sun's light can touch. Most never come out of this place known as The Abyss.

Broken homes are frowned upon. The laws force children of single parents to go to a boarding Littering and vandalism is punished as severely as an assault charge. Trash disposal is a big deal. Every resident is charge for every pound of trash they throw away, which causes many to turn to reusable containers.

I wouldn't consider myself a writer, but I have written some. I wrote a novel based somewhat on mine and my brothers' upbringing in bush Alaska way back in the day. Being an author doesn't pay very well, so unfortunately I haven't been able to stick with it.

What's the subject matter of the book?

Whistleblowing about some deeply shoddy things, told the funny way.

I may have to do a complete removal of all actual details though, which would be a huge pain and sort of defeat the object of it. The chances of it making more money than its costs to get it checked by a lawyer are not good.

So hobby definitely not retirement plan.

I did a short manual on applied martial arts and orthopedics, for my school. Don't laugh. eh, OK, go ahead.
There are/were only a couple copies. Or maybe none, now. It was made before YouTube, just so you can understand how archaic the idea was.

It was a practical guide to nerve disabling, joint dislocations and bone breaking( exactly what we want the students to do to each other ) with X-rays( why?) and anatomical explanations(needless) of the techniques( better learned by video/in person). It took about 5 years to compile, with lots of assistance from friends in the Radiology and Surgical depts, (so based on actual injuries) and some guys from other MA schools, so it's a mongrel collection of styles( which no school would ever combine, no competition would allow, and no teacher who would let you practise).

There's a (useless) short section after every chapter detailing how to set and reduce the injuries( because everybody need to be an Orthopedics Resident), and how to reduce them on yourself, (who would ever try that?) where feasible.

The school was politely interested in the work, academically, but it was felt that this material wasn't suitable to publish, or teach to the general public.
I was happy with the quality, but ha, nobody really needs it (other than Young Batman?). It's the classic problem of people writing narrow useless books just for their own interest.

Maybe I might try writing something funny instead. There are not enough humorous books and too many humungous ones.

Hi Stigbob
What you say about removing details hits the nail right on the head.... with my Elite Dangerous offering... I was led to believe an IP Licence was pretty much in the bag from Frontier but in the end (after 18 months hard writing) Product Manager ''MKH'' politely put me out of my misery and I THEN had to decide to remove ALL of Frontier's Elite Intellectual Property from the book so retaining my right to commercially publish.... in the end this would have proved pointless as it would have gutted the central premise of the book being all about adventure and misadventure in the Elite Galaxy! Hence it's entirely free to read and I won't in future be venturing my writing into the realm of Elite Dangerous or any other projects containing Frontier's IP.
N.B Mixing Lawyers and Literature never ends well (for the author)

Hi!
I'm a writer with two published books. I'm writing sci-fi with post-apocalyptic and psychological and existential elements. Mainly I'm focusing on my characters feelings and doubts.
I am not yet a known author, here in Poland, but I'm working on it :)

I think it would be appropriate for me to write something more about my books:

My first book from December 2015 - "Nieistotne". In English will be: "Irrelevant".
The events are centered around a woman who is trying to unravel the mystery from her childhood. She also fights for the overthrow of totalitarian rulers. However, the core of the novel is a reflection on "determinism vs. fatalism problem": Is it possible that the actions of one person affect the fate of the whole world? The book is divided into three main parts, which show the distant future after the actions of the main character.

Second, from April this year - "Psy i Ludzie". In English will be: "Dogs and Humans"
Is concentrated around several characters. Some of them can't call themselves human. Others want to, but they are inhuman. Also one of the main characters is a dog. Each of these beings understands the concepts of good and evil in their own way. In the book, each of them must deal with regret and a desire for revenge in their own way and consider whether there is room for forgiveness in a fallen world.

And autumn is coming, that specific mood is coming, so the next book calls me :). I will start the third book in next few months I think.

P.S: In my daily work I'm a graphic designer and e-commerce manager. Yep, it's almost impossible to to survive from writing books... until you write bestseller ;)
