General / Off-Topic Writing competition

For those who don't know, the shy and retiring Michael Brookes is running a short fiction competition over on his blog at

http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/p/june-writing-competition.html

It's the first of hopefully many monthly competitions.

Closing date for this one is 23rd of June. 500 words based on the picture provided. Prizes are Amazon gift cards (£50, £20 and £10), and the winners will be announced on the 1st of July. I think he's also looking for volunteers to help with the judging.

The blog is a good resource for writers wanting to self-publish. You'll also wonder when Michael gets to sleep - my theory is there are two of him...

Cloning, its the only explanation...

That picture could be a scene from the TNG episode Time's Arrow. Picard and Guinan dancing in the 19th century.

Interesting competition! :)

EDIT: after looking closely at that pic, the bloke is Patrick Stewart, I'm telling you!!!

No. there is a cupboard somewhere beneath Frontier filled with Michaels. As each reaches exhaustion, the next is decanted, updated and trollied out.

The clue is the beard. They haven't perfected faces yet and each one is subtly unique. So they all have a beard and 'growing hair' - they don't expect you to notice the minor variations.

Look, this is top secret stuff I'm sharing with you here. If anyone found out I'd

The truth is, Michael Brookes is Frontier's name for the game code they made for "The Outsider" and Michael is in fact some advanced form of A.I. that runs 24 hours a day on David's hard drive.

That's...scary enough to be true...

On topic, I've just looked up that image that Michael used (I avoided doing so before writing so that I could write something without the bias of intent, although I did look up the name on the poster for one reason only). It's heartening to learn that I managed to get the concept completely wrong, and my story completely miscasts the person in red...

Awesome. Michael wanted diverse stories, well he got one at least... ;)

I found the answer!!!
